This Thanksgiving my DD and DN decided to hit the midnight madness at the mall ... Yes at midnight on Thanksgiving. I couldn’t get over how crowded it was and how long the lines were. Thirty minutes at Starbucks, 45 minutes at Old Navy and over an hour at Urban Outfitters. We did this mostly for the experience and it certainly was that!! We arrived home at 6 am and I’m still recovering. I bought two items. Here is a photo from my phone...I couldn’t get over how destroyed Urban Outfitters was from the crowds. The first time the girls went in the store there was physically no space to move. Next year we will venture out at 5am instead. If you celebrate Thanksgiving I hope it was a special one. I know I have so much to be grateful for. Have a great weekend. Oh..almost forgot this snowman was inspired by a European santa I saw at the mall. I stamped the snowman in Hero Arts Shadow ink Pool and colored Copics & dotted with white pen. For the boarder I highlighted my coloring with a Gelly Roll Metalllic Pen.

I resizing the images, made a mirror image as well and added some highlights with Copics or distressing ink. I used the fun doodle swirl paper as my "sky" and enlarged the fun frame. The Challenge at Hero Arts this week is to make a card from your scraps and as I began to clean my stamping desk I found all elements buried under everything.... so these two cards came together in a snap. For the penguin card all I stamped was the sentiment and put a bow on the package. See the original HERE Hero Arts stamps & Penguin digital kit. F5243 Elegant Brocade, CL240 Winter Time Messages

Just a quick post...I was up until 2am with this card. I love to color so I just had to participate in the CAARDVark coloring challenge and the Embellish color challenge was my color guide. I would NEVER have used all these brads but, so glad I did. The brad buttons really pop. I'm making cookies right now and I have already burned an entire pan so I'll see you later. Hugs,Kathy

I have some exciting news that I wanted to announce last week but, I have been waiting to make a card first!!! I am a part of Michelle Underwood 's DESIGN TEAM...yay !!!!!!! I am so excited and I have Lucy to Thank!! Lucy is has always inspired me with her digital designed cards and when she joined Michelle's design team November 4th I fell in love with her AWESOME digital kits, stamps and papers. So I just had to apply and Michelle liked my cards! My first card with the beautiful and creative digi kits just had to be a big thank you to Lucy...the digital queen! I used two kits for this card. I loved the papers from "Here with You and the crown is from "Crown Pretties" Thanks so much to all my Hero Arts friends on Flickr for your support and encouragement! Especially to TRACEY for telling me to up my game and make a digital card!!! More tomorrow. Hugs,Kathy
After downloading the paper I distressed it with Rangers Antique Linen and stamped on the Michelle's paper with Hero Arts "Old Letter Writing" in Antique Linen and Walnut Stain. I changed the color on the crown and cut out. Added accents with a Copic marker (BG01) and a Spica Glitter pen in Turquoise. Then added some bling from Kaiser and Glossy Accents!
I am so excited for Lucy to post her first color challenge. Lucy is so lovely and I adore her and admire her work. Check it out http://hedgehogsandladybirds.blogspot.com/I had to make a special card for Nikki who is turning 30 years old Friday. Nikki is a very special young woman and I really admire her in many ways. I hope this makes the cut. Background stamp is Hero Arts CG122 Branch Background. I traced and drew line is the leaves with a Spica glitter pen. The flowers are from PapertreyInk "In Bloom" I stamped on pink paper, distressed with Ranger Worn Lipstick...layered...and added dots. Added some highlights with a pink Copic marker as well. Paper is from Taylored Expressions. Antique button. Have a great night and thanks so so much for your comments. Hugs,Kathy
For all of these cards I used Hero Arts Garden Tiles Digital Kits. After downloading several of the same tile images I fun trying some different things with them.
For the Trees I stamped a tree on the back of the garden tile several times and cut out. Then I distressed with Ranger's inks. First Pine Needles, then Shabby Shutters and finally Peeled Paint. I used a "Quickie Glue" pen by Sakura & applied Martha Stewart Glitter. For the trunks I stamped Hero Arts Wood grain circle and cut out into rectangles and distressed a little. Super quick. The sentiment is from HA "Holiday Sayings"
This card is made from one garden tile and used my Copic markers to enhance the image and added some pen work. Then cut out some areas with my blade and added glitter.
I thought this would be great for my Jewish friend. For this card I already had the acetate I stamped this summer and for the garden tile I cut out the entire image with my blade and used a brush to apply the glue and poured on Martha Stewart glitter. The background I painted with glue and poured on a different color. I was happy that pop dots stuck to the glitter.
Hi...just another owl for the Embellish Magazine on line. I had so much fun creating my larger owl that I wanted to make a simpler version for my Tuesday Tipsters. I'll be posting that later so you will know how to wip up one of these owls quickly. I added glitter because it needed some pizzazz and now it will qualify for the Hero Arts Challenge this week(to have glitter on your card) All the stamps are from Hero Arts too. See ya' later!
Hi, I stamped this center flourish and butterfly when I was in Canada and have been dying to use it for the Plum Challenge. Finally I had a bit of time to put all the elements together . I distressed the center image them embossed it and distressed it some more. Applied Glossy Accents to my butterfly. All stamps..you guessed it Hero Arts. Have a great day! Hugs,Kathy
I feel like I was running like the mouse all day yesterday and I really needed some card time. When I finally turned out the lights in my studio it was 3am. It's crazy how you can get lost in time! I wasn't intending to make another card for the Hero Arts Challenge (unexpected Holiday card) but it fits so why not? I will enter this for the CAARDvarks Challenge as well. Hope you day is full of sun. Hugs,Kathy
This is the last card for the HA challenge this week...non traditional colors. I downloaded Hero Arts Digi Kit "Garden Tiles" chose a digi "stamp" then printed it in blue. It was easy to cut out with my blade because the image is all straight lines. Once It was cutout , I mounted it, distressed and stamped over the garden tile, the inside and the background. Lots of stamp cleaning. I hope everyone has a great weekend and thanks so so much for your kind comments. Hugs,Kathy
Supplies: Hero Arts, Digi Kit- Garden Tiles, S4878 Old Letter Writing, CL343 Holiday Sayings, S5216 Grid Pattern, S5069 Stunning Snowflakes, Brown and pink notecards
My daughter is pretty tough on me and is a good judge of the cards that will fly or not so that's why I didn't enter this last week. I must say she did NOT like this one at all and went on to say it looks like one of my earlier postings from the beginning...nice right? Well I added some trees and the row of gems so maybe she'll like a bit more? It fit today's colors on the Hero Arts blog perfectly so here it is. Be easy on me and you may be sick of seeing this santa? He's so versatile though. Have a great weekend! Hugs, kathy Hero Arts Stamps:S5216 Grid Pattern,H5264 Santa with Gift ,CL357 Holiday Dolls (I used the tree)
Say no more with the nudging of Virginia I realized I just had to submit something for this challenge at Embellish Magazine. I started with my EK Success scallop punch and punched many strips of paper. I distressed with Ranger's Shabby Shutters and Vintage Photo. I stamped Hero Arts cling Flourish Background (#CG119) with Shabby Shutters ink on the green center body. To shape the body of the owl I used the photo provided as my guide. I Cut ovals in various sizes with my Cuttlebug and once I assembled them I drew the brown background. So easy. For the feet I started with triangles and cut claws and added Glossy Accents ( also used GA on the eyes) . I cut a leftover scallop and flipped it and cut into strips for the eye lashes. Without the claws the owl measures 5x5. I always appreciate you stopping by. I hope you have a great weekend! Hugs, Kathy Here is the link (I couldn't download the photo??) http://embellishmagazine.com/blog/2009/10/embellish-owls-color-challenge/
Hello it's challenge time again. This week the challenge at Hero Arts is to make a Holiday card with NON traditional colors therefore you see Santa in a hounds tooth outfit. The juggling penguin is from Hero Arts digi kit and all the stamps are from Hero Arts. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment if the card provokes you. (no pressure) Have a great night! Hugs,Kathy
All stamps are Hero Arts including the crown. Notice the crown background on the pink? I used Glossy Accents on the eyes and the crown. For the feathers I colored with my Prismacolor pencils and Copic markers and a white accent pen. Thanks for all your comments they really mean a lot to me. Have a great week!
Moxie Fab is now posting a Tuesday Trigger on Tuesday's so I wanted to play along especially since their inspirational trigger was owl's. I love and collect owls. This is my take on the challenge. I hope you all have a great week! Hugs,Kathy
The Challenge for Hero Arts this week is to make a simple Holiday card. I was inspired by all the artists this week and Lucy's penguin tags so I just had to purchase this penguin digi kit. I downloaded the penguins and chose one to print on heavy card stock. I have to really force the paper into my printer for it to print. Then I cut out the penguin , mount it on my scrap(just happened to be stamped with the pine tree). Cut with a circle out of cardboard and adhere it to the back of the images so it will be heavy and sturdy. Then I used "UTEE" Ultra thick embossing powder on the ornament. After four coats the area is covered and smooth. I had a package of 30mm hoop (for earrings) that I attached between the red circle and the circle with the penguin. This ornament will hold up and can be removed easily from the card. I hope you get an idea of the thickness and dimension. Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,Kathy P.S. Here is Lucy's blog for more digi cards http://hedgehogsandladybirds.blogspot.com/
