Betsy Tuma's  DigiKit called “Flower Frenzy The Papers” is so beautiful. The minute I saw this DigiKit I knew I had to create with it. I used four of the papers in this card and cut out one of the flowers, added color to the tips of the petals, did some faux stitching, and added glossy accents. I'll be back tomorrow with a give away...lots of Hero Arts goodies.
See you then and thanks for stopping by :)

A Valentine card for a recovering american soldier

I Love You's me again. Just a quick post to share my teaser card. I'll be sending out a mass email to family and friends inviting them to come and make a card for a wounded soldier at the Walter Reed Amy Medical Center in Washington DC.  See you tomorrow! Hugs,Kathy

The background on this card is stamped with Hero Arts new Lace Background stamp. I stamped in black on white card stock and then used some markers to color the lace, cut out some of the flowers and added glossy accents. The penguin is from Memory Box called Rose Penguin.

Hero Hues Paper LOVE it!!

Hello All, When I was purchasing my Christmas stamps for myself from Hero Arts new 2010 catalog I threw in some of their Hero Hues paper and some chalk ink. Now I must have them the colors of the paper and the texture and feel. The chalk ink is wonderful too. For both of these cards I used Hero Hues only and chalk ink on the blue background. For the sentiment I just printed on white paper.

Well in my hubby’s excitement he took of without the gift and card so I decided to do a make over since I have a zillion things to do but just wanted to finish this card instead. I love this new Hero Arts stamp set CL389.

Merry Christmas to You and Your Families

I just wanted to send you all a quick Merry Christmas message and I'm just getting the chance to do it now AFTER Christmas. I hope your holiday was filled with love and joy! Every year for the past 17 years Christmas Eve has been at our house (except one year) and setting the table is always a big thing. I want the dinner to feel magical so I spend some time on the table. This year I just used the leftover ornaments that didn't make it to the tree and clustered the ornaments with some faux greenery. For dinner this year we had pasta with meat balls and salad...yumm. We are in Arizona visiting family and my spell check isn't working so please overlook any spelling errors :). Thanks a have a great week! Hugs,Kathy I would love to hear about your family traditions

Owl Money Holder

Owl Money Holder

inside the "pocket"

I created these cards for the HERO ARTS CHALLENGE called "Cards that give". Every year I give money to my nephews and usually end up wrapping their money in a cereal box and taping it to the bottom or something silly. This challenge helped me step out of my box and create something a little more creative. I wanted to use this New DigiKit called Wrap it Up Christmas Papers By Shimelle Laine HERE came just in time for me. I needed some masculine paper to create my money holders for my 18 year old nephews. I cut out the eye so you can see the money and was careful to place my foam strips so that the folded money had enough space to fit within the card. The stamp is from Hero Arts called Big Owl K5059.
Also shown a digi kit from Jen Martakis (see the orange grid one)called This Year Here . This kit had just right color of orange that I was looking for and the I love the grid patterns available in this kit. I hope everyone has an awesome Holiday!

Jen Martaksi "This Year" new DigiKit

I just love all of Jen Martakis kits and especially this one. The colors are so bright and cheerful and they are a great way to start off the new year. This DigiKit makes me ponder what colors will be my favorite color combination in 2010? I think I may be leaning towards orange and blue??? How about you think you will have a new go to color combo??? Here is the full kit for you to see and it's for sale at Two Peas and A Bucket. I hope you all have the spirit of this season and aren't stressed with a long "to do" list. Have a great week!Hugs,Kathy

For the green part of the flower I borrowed some of the leaves from the stem and glued them onto the circle part of the flower. I needed some contrasting color against my orange background. I cut apart some of the other circle flowers just use as an embellishment at the bottom on my card. Stamped frog from Hero Arts Sending Happy Thoughts CL305 and added some shading to him with a Copic marker. Buttons are Hero Arts too. Please stop by to see HERO ARTS NEW 2010 CATALOG HERE BEWARE YOU WILL WANT THEM ALL!

Hero Arts Big Release 2010 Stamp officiala Blog Hop!!

Welcome to my part of the Hero Arts Blog hop. I’m so excited you stopped by, and I have some exciting new 2010 stamps to share with you!

"Thinking of You"

Thinking of You

I love this doily stamp and I wanted to design this card with a  dramatic flower using this doily. I wanted to use lots of color  when I selected my Copics. After coloring I used my craft knife to cut the center “petals” and bent them up. I promise it was easy. Added some bling and cut and layered. For the background I used clear embossing powder on the same doily stamp for a hint of color and pattern.

Hero Arts: Circle Doily CG168, Essential Messages CL371
Paper is from PapertryInk  & Taylored Expressions
Copic colors: W-1,Y38,Y17,YR68, R05,E08,YR04,YR16,R37,G14, E47, BG49
Misc: Fancy Tags from Shapeabilities, clear embossing powder, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Memory Box jewel stickers in azalea pink.

"In Life..."

In Life...

I  love any Hero Arts butterflies and these new butterfly antique engravings are no exception! To begin I stamped the clouds, then inked up the dandelion stamp. I was just dying to color the butterflies and I wish the picture showed the shading better. After cutting out the butterflies I applied Glossy Accents to each butterfly. Added texture to the background with some Cuttlebug dots embossing folder and I scored the teal strip with my Scor-pal.

Hero Arts: Dandelion Frame CG153, Antique Engravings Cl383, Essential Messages CL371, S5215 Clouds Background.
Copic colors: Red butterfly: Y17,Y38,RV29,YR04,R05,59
Greenish Butterfly :YG,06,BG15,BG49
Misc: Memento Tuxedo Black Ink & Summer Sky, Glossy Accents, Dots Embossing folder from Cuttlebug.

"Coffee or Tea"

 Coffee or Tea?

I just love this new clear set called What’s Perking. The very first thing that I did was pencil in the steam squiggles then very slowly stitched them with my machine turning the paper ever so slowly. Erase any leftover pencil marks. (It may take a few tries but the result is well worth it.) Now you are safe to stamp, masking one mug. I switched the handle on the left mug because it was in my visual space by cutting it off and adhering to the other side of the mug. I randomly picked some bright colors and really enjoyed coloring these adorable coffee and tea mugs.

Hero Arts:What’s Perking CL416
Copic colors:Y17, Y38, RV29,YR04, R05,R59, YG,06, BG15, BG49
Misc: Fancy Tags from Shapeabilities, Crystal Sticker gems, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink

Claudine Hellmuth and My Green Stocking

Here  is Claudine Hellmuth's blog where she has all the info on her Sticky Back Canvas and other ways to use it.

AND a card with more Sticky back...I love working with the texture.

I painted the canvas with Claudine's Landscape Green paint and once dry I stamped on my new green surface with Hero Arts stamps. The tree is from Hero Art's Scribble Trees DigiKit here. I distressed the tree with Ranger Peeled Paint and Pine Needles then poured on Crackle Liquid Embossing and put the gems down when almost dry.

There were a few questions about the Copic colors I used on my trees Hybrid Gift Stocking
I apologize for the late response .... if you send me an email I can get back to you quicker. See right side bar :) Have a great weekend. I'll be making some potato latkes tonight while we decorate our Christmas tree...yum!Happy Holidays!  Hugs,Kathy

Cards for Kids makes a profound impact on the kids

Do you remember when Jennifer McGuire collected cards for Eric and his famly? This was the post with the info on Eric's fight for his life and now he rests in peace. A special thanks to all of you who touched Eric and his family lives in a very profound way! I went to their house this afternoon to give them a mini stamping lesson. Immediately Rachel (Eric's sister) ran upstairs and brought me her bag of cards to share with me. She showed me some of the HER cards with great joy and told me where each one was from. A few that she just happened to pull out of her bag were from Cathy, Sarah and Virginia...that was a really cool moment for me and I was beaming like a proud parent.  Leslie, (Rachel's mom) told me that Jacob(Eric's brother) carries his cards around in a bag as well. Often he will take them out to just admire them so she had to replace the bag that his cards were in. Rachel, her mom and I inked, cut, distressed and stamped for four hours! Watch out because Rachel is only SEVEN and she was amazing at sewing, inking, the hole ball of wax!! I was so impressed. So if you have a card laying around please send it to one of the kids below or their siblings. You have no idea of the impact it makes in their lives. Here Jennifer's blog with more information.

Here is the start of Jennifer McGuire's  newest card drive - Cards for Kids.

And, Jennifer say's "of course, there will be lots of prizes!"
