Sharing Some Hybrid Digi Cards

Hello Friends and Blog Friends,
I just want to tell you how much your comments mean to me...they really brighten my day  but, please don't feel like you need to leave one. As I'm sure you know each comment comes through in my email inbox and I leave it there as a reminder to get to your blog. It's been so dismal and gloomy here that I feel super grouchy and just want to complain about anything and everything AND I have a bad cold!  I hope you week is starting out better. Sorry to be a "Debbie Downer".... Hugs,Kathy

Just Saying

For this card I decided to recolor some of the papers and butterflies in this DigiKit. After cutting the butterflies I used my Cuttlebug to add some texture to the wings. This DigiKit is called This Year by Pamela Parr available HERE and the sentiment stamp HERE

Sending Smiles

These spring papers and elements are from Holly Brook Jones called Waiting For Spring. I enlarged the butterflies, cut them out, stamped some text on them, distressed the wings and added some faux stitching with a white gel pen available HERE.

Big City

These digi papers from Vinnie Pearce called Art Papers are so dramatic and I think they are perfect for a masculine card. This particular paper looks like a city scape to me so I paired it with a Hero Arts stamp called Cityscape. I used pop dots for one of the buildings and added Glossy Accents to make the windows look realistic. DigiKit available HERE and the stamp HERE

The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge and SRM Sticker Challenge with a Great Prize

Hi Everyone,
It's Saturday (yay!) and time for another Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge and honestly.... I really do love their sketches.  Please visit their blog to get more info and to link up your card.

This stamp is one of Hero Arts new wood stamps and I didn’t love it but, purchased the stamp any way. Now that I have used it and colored it I LOVE IT! First  I colored the background with blue (Boo) and scribble colored the flowers (RV06)with abandon because I knew I would be adding cut flowers on top . I just need to stay in the lines but, didn’t need to color perfectly or evenly (I added some distress ink in the center of the flowers to insure that there isn't any white peeking out). Then I stamped the flowers again and cut on the inner flower (not following the outside edges of the flower) . I pulled out some ranger inks and distressed the flowers for my color and curled up the edges of the flowers. The orange paper is Poppy from HA and I stamped the feather grass with Poppy chalk ink before adding my stitching and layers.

Hero Art Stamps: S5317  Large Fine Flowers and CL282  Feather Grass. Poppy Paper and Poppy Chalk Ink
Ranger: Rusty Hinge, Firebrick Red & Worn Lipstick

Printing Digi Images so they won't smear

The challenge this week is to make a card with a scene and the prize is a
Squiggefly image. Here is Squigglefly’s BLOG” with all the details and here is  Squigglefly’s Digi image “Flower Set” that I used to create my scene. In the spring and summer I love to watch the butteries buzz around the  flowers and I think we are all anxious for warm weather.

The critters are from Hero Arts #CL261

I tried something new when I printed this digi image. Usually I am very careful when coloring around the lines so the ink won't smear.  This time I prepared my area with my clear embossing powder

before printing. Immediatley after printing the image I quickly poured on the clear emossing power ON the image to emboss it. After heat setting embossing powder I could color with abondon! I was thrilled how well this worked so I encourage you to give it a try.

Now to announce the winner of my last little giveaway is

I'll send you an email.
Have a great week! Hugs,Kathy

So Many Challenges So Little Time

Lately I haven’t had time for to many challenges so it was fun to pile all these challenges together. I designed these two cards for Lucy’s challenge here  and this is the card of Jennifer McGuire’s that I loved and was so inspired by here. I created a pretty sky background with clouds and had my grass cut but, it was just to much for my flower. So this is the end result. For the pattern on the flower I used the Starburst LACE stamp on top of the flower and the leaves. To add color I used distress ink and on the big card some Copic markers. I’m also entering these cards in the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog here , Moxie Fab World Lace challenge here and Hero Arts Spring challenge here.

 Starburst Lace Flower

Supplies: Hero Arts: CL374 Big & Small Flowers, S5317 Starburst Lace, F5170 Bouquet Bear, C4920 Sweetie, Hero Hues Carnation paper.
Ranger Distress Ink: Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Firebrick Red, Lettuce
Vintage Buttons

This is the most challenges I have entered at one time. I hope you are having a terriffic weekend. The sun is shining here and my DD and I spend some time together today shopping. Isn't that what all teenager daughters want to do?
Ahhh...almost forgot the winner tomorrow night. Hugs,Kathy

The Sweet Shop

Hello my friends in blog land. I am so excited to share with you that I was invited to be a guest designer this month at "The Sweet Shop". The Sweet Shop is a challenge blog that provides you with a sketch challenge and some "sweet inspiration".  I hope you will visit their  BLOG and see how creative their team of designers are! I really enjoyed working with this sketch and I'm going to keep it on hand because I find sketches to be a great starting point.

Think Spring or Summer

To print on the sun I typed my sentiment in "word" and printed  it out on regular copy paper to test the font size etc. Once you have the desired size all you have to do is tape your image (my sun) to the paper on top of the printed word and presto. Works like a charm every time.

I love working with these Hero Arts dolls. If you take a look at her kimono here you will see that I made some changes. I took the small flower stamp and created a patterned kimono instead. The sash is altered as well and it was so easy, all I did was layer three thin ribbons and taped them to the back of the kimono. For the hair I like to cut it so it flips up and then glue on top of one of the two images that I stamped.

For the sand I tore some cork paper gently and for the sky I distressed white paper with Ranger distress ink in Faded Jeans. I wanted to use the umbrella as a little raft for the cat in the ocean. To create the waves I stamped on a strip of paper that I punched out with a Fiscars punch. I wanted the water to look fluid so I glued the sides of the punched strip and created a buckle in the paper so it resemble a wave then I inserted the umbrella with the cat.

Supplies: Hero Arts Stamps
CL373 Good Fortune Clear Stamp Set, S5101 Raindrop Background (dots),
S5106 Bold Flourish (on waves) , CL270 The Sky's The Limit (sun)
Ranger Distress Inks: Firebrick Red, Faded Jeans and Spiced Marmalade
Copic Markers:

Sunday I'll announce the winner for my little Hero Arts prize. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and THANK YOU SO MUCH for visiting my blog and taking the time to leave a comment and if you don't that's ok I'm just happy you stopped by :) .

CFK logosb
All of the children are the same as the first round, but she has added two more (so far).  The next shipping deadline is March 31 and she has GREAT NEW prizes! I can tell you first hand how much these cards mean to these families so if you have a minute please make a card. A small and simple card is so incredibly meaningful to the kids and their families.

Guess what???!!!! SRM stickers in now ONLINE and it’s so easy to  click and shop and if you want to see what you can do with stickers check out SRM Sticker's Blog

Now how about some card making? Below you will find Card Patterns Sketch #52.   I'm a person who likes to follow the rules so with this sketch my right and left brain were fighting.  I ended up making THREE  cards based on the sketch and let them choose which one they wanted to use. If you leave a comment which one is your favorite I'll pick a random person and mail a surprise to you.

CARD 1:  "Reverse Tie Dye Flowers"
I colored these flowers when we were on vacation so it was nice to have one element of the card to start with however ......the layout  took some time because my left and right brain were competing with each other. I love the result of the distress inks on the Nestabilities. I was tempted to add dots on the flowers but, decided not to.
