I am running out of time to post the card before the challenge here goes. HERE are the details.

Can you tell it's a lace and pearl challenge? Off to post ...thanks again and again. Hugs, kathy

I am thrilled to say I am now a part of the Caardvarks Design Team ........... pinch me please

The design team at Caardvarks is a group of women who are so talented and they always been a big source of inspiration for me!! It was always a dream of mine to be on this team and to be included among these amazing ladies. Today my dream has come true and I just can't tell you how excited I am!!

Caardvarks is sponsored by Tiffany Doodles for this challenge in combination with two sketches by Heidi Van Laar. For my cards I used this digi "stamp" here .You can't beat the price and the versatility of these digi images.

To begin with the first flower I re-sized the width and height of the image and colored with Copic markers.( you will find the  colors below this post.)
I printed the image again without changing the size. You can see I cut the large flower out from above and I will add it to the bouquet below to give one of the flowers more impact.  Did you notice the wide vase above...therefore the one flower I colored is much wider than the one below that are colored in the vase.

I love how the super large flower looks on the smaller vase. After coloring the vase I covered the entire vase with Glossy Accents so it resembles glass.
To create the yellow background I used Mustard Seed distress ink on white paper and stamped with the same ink using a small stamp to create the pattern. It was easy and quick. For the "wood table" distress a white piece of paper in walnut,  then use  Tim Holtz's embossing folder and distressed the paper AGAIN with the walnut to add extra dimension to the embossed parts. Behind the yellow stamped paper is some blue stamped paper. I used Tumbled Glass to add  color to the paper, then stamped with Penny Black's text background in the same color. (my new go to the vintage petite font!)
Color two of the unused flower petals for leaves. I ended up cutting out entire vase with the flowers. I love how you can see the wall paper behind the vase. Layer your papers and pop dot large flower and you are finished.

I love Heidi Van Lear's sketches so I based my second card on her sketch.  The white paper is embossed with Tim Holtz damask by Sizzix. The blue paper started out being white and I used Tumbled Glass to color it and used PB's letter background to give it some pizzaz with a bit of Broken China and Antique Linen. Add some stitching and stamp your sentiment. I used a scrap strip of white paper and colored it with Mustard Seed (stamped with the letter background...again) and used the NEW EK punch that is amazing!! Love the big scallop. To add some white highlighting I used a white marker by Galazy and smeared immediately after coloring on the edges of the petals. Then added some of my white dots with a white gel pen. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Hugs, Kathy

giving thanks

IMG_1007 IMG_1005_2_2 Just a quick share today. I LOVE this Betsy Bluebell stamp set from Penny Black. I think this stamps is perfect if you need to make a sympathy, thank you, a congratulatory or an anniversary card. One thing I did for this was stamp some extra flowers and added them to the bouquet. If you click on the stamp below you will know what I mean. I colored her with Copics and added white stitching to her dress. You must take note of this embossing folder it's one of my all time favorites and it's on sale...maybe it's being discontinued? For this card I was going for a white tile look. For a different look I love to stamp inside the argyle patter as you can see below. Well thanks for stopping. I will be back Sunday with a few cards. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs,Kathy IMG_1013_2

I'm testing some new linking that I recently learned so this is NOT a card but, you will find it walking across the Penny Black blog here.   I colored her in my hotel room at CHA and the next day showed it to the V.P. at Penny Black. She wanted to keep it so I took a quick photo and wow was I was so surprised to see her in animation!

Her name is "Mademoiselle Noel" and it's  NEW release at Penny Black . You can find it right here.
I colored her boots in black and did you notice the red sole. It's Just like a Christian Louboutin boot in patent leather ( aka Glossy Accents). The rest of her as you might have guessed is colored with Copic markers. I can't wait to ink her up again and for you that might not like to color. Super easy!
Have a great weekend! Hugs, Kathy

College bound and I still miss him

even if he ALWAYS pushed the envelope and constantly reminded me that he's 18 and can do whatever he wants. There was that constant flow of eb and pull that comes with having a teenager full of personality and lots on his agenda. Honestly the minute Marshall was delivered 18 years ago he looked us directly in the eyes and we immediately could tell that he was an old was as though he wanted to tell us something important! Through the years he has proven the old soul thing to be true. I will never forget when it was his first Birthday he would run to the door to greet everyone individually for his party as they arrived! When we would go out to eat....Marshall would work the room stopping by any table that looked interested in starting up a conversation with him. My husband and I would have get used to striking up conversations on command with these people as we collected Marshall for his meal. I always admired how you could put him in any situation (at any age) and he would have everyone conversing and chatting in no time... he was always interested in people and always asked great questions and instantaneously he could make any person feel important.  Marshall's  mind never stops working, thinking and doing. Imagine how we felt when he took on being a volunteer fire fighter when he was 15 for 3 years completing three different intense trainings. So as you can tell I am a proud mamma   and I'm so proud of the person that he is today. There is so much more but, I have to stop somewhere. As you can imagine I will be counting the days until parents weekend.

This card is the first thing I did when I came home and tomorrow I will send off his first package of all the things he forgot and a few goodies. Ok now for the card which was really satisfying to make and fun too. I love how the letters turned out...sorta like those gel letters but, much less money. I started with blank white paper and inked up my letter background with walnut ink then "kissed" each letter. If you are aware of what kissing is in the stamping world read on

I inked my letter "M" in red ink, stamped some of the ink off on scrap paper and set aside. Then I inked up my letter background with walnut ink and set it down with the inked part facing up. Then I took my slightly inked letter "M" and placed it on top of my letter background. (now my "M' has red ink and brown letters on it) THEN proceed to stamp on your paper.

When all of my letters were completed (stamp the "U" on scrap paper and cut out) I used the letter background again and stamped it on the white paper over top of my letters in antique linen. I decided to add a black line and some shading around my letters. It's time to add your Matte Glossy Accents then set aside to dry. For the background I used the Halloween web. The geometric pieces are leftover from my notebook cover in the post below this one. The adorable dog is a Halloween stamp from Penny Black. I cut off the pumpkin and colored our "golden retriever" with Copics. (E21, E99, E17, and any pink will do) I used glossy accents on his nose and tongue and matte glossy accents on his paws. I think that's it? I have 50 million things to do and I am so sorry that I haven't been by your blog. I have so many emails and if I owe you one please bear with me. A few of you were wondering where I purchased my folder holder for my organizational tip with the SRM stickers. Here is the link and if you keep checking maybe you will find one on sale perhaps like I did. Enjoy your day! Hugs, Kathy

I wanted to take a silly photo at our good buy dinner so  you can guess which one is Marshall. Notice that everyone (except ONE) is wearing "Arizona" tee shirts....Marshall''s new home for now.

Saying good buy....Marshall and his sis.

This is the dorm

The view from the dorm room window. Can you see the mountains? I'll leave you with this. Have a great day :)

Cosmo Cricket "Togetherness" and "Mitten Weather" cards and more..

Hello Friends,
I am so happy to share this lovely...lovely paper with you. I have to be completely honest it's so easy to whip up a card if you have pretty paper and a sticker that melts into your paper. So that means the sticker must be an SRM sticker. Scroll down for my "Cards for Kids" card and you can see what I mean. If you want to have some fun and spend a little more time on a card...well then, check these out.

Here you have two completely different cards . The top one was created with a Penny Black's new stamp called Gift of Giving. (#4098K) check it out here. The second card "image" was really cheating. I cut the flower and vine from the paper. Added some white dots and gems and some layers and walla. Finished :) I am so loving the new releases from SRM Stickers . For these cards I used #51001 available here and #51009 available here.
Since the theme this month seems to be "back to school" I wanted to design a note book cover with some pizazz. I used the Cosmo Cricket paper from "Togetherness" and cut everything from small octagons from Nestabilities. I used my machine to sew the center ones and cut open octagons to finish off the page. The photos don't give this must justice so you will just have to use your imagination.
This is the front cover. The birds are cut from the CC paper and outlined in black thin sharpie. The stickers for this project are from the new release too available here. (#53003)

and the side view ...not it's not backwards...or I am. I wanted to see it from my perspecive so this worked best. Don't you love the large yummy strawberry? Take a bite out of this
Be sure to check out all the amazing projects at the SRM's BLOG. Thanks for stopping I really appreciate all of your sweet comments. This is a big week for me because we will be taking our son to college. I'll be posting a photo of our good buy dinner next week. Hug your little ones tighter because they really do grow up really fast. Have a great week!

For my cards I used the new and beautiful Cosmo Cricket "Togetherness" paper.
and nothing better than pretty paper and beautiful sticker sentiments that just melt into your paper. I used these sets here.
available here (#53002) don't you just love these new stickers in white, brown and black!

I love these Penny Black monster stamps and you can find them here. Now it's time to hope on over to Cindy's BLOG. Thanks for stopping at my blog :)
If you want to see a great way to organize your stickers.... stick around before hopping to Cindy's blog
This is how I organize all of my wonderful SRM stickers.
I had this file organizer and never utilized it very well. As you can see from the pen mark it's NOT new. I had fun making this flower from fabric scraps. My DD was sewing a BLAZER  and had some scraps on the floor. I used Tim holtz Sizzix die cut to "cut" them then put three coats of Claudine Hellmuth's studio matte multi medium paint on each flower to give it some body. The bird is from the sticker sheet above.

SRM literally has a sticker for anything you can imagine so I ended up decorating my folders with the categories so I am reminded what each folder contains.
I hope you found some inspiration and please stop back I will be giving away one of Penny Black's new releases very soon.... Happy hopping and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Have a great week. Hugs,Kathy
