the winner is .... and a butterfly trio card

Congradulations Heidi number 64!!

I am so excited for you and will be contacting you soon.

It's been awhile since I have made a butterfly card so I was anxious to ink these up the minute I received them.
Butterfly Trio

Butterfly Trio This stamp is a boarder stamp that I wanted to use as individual butterflies. So I inked them up with Victorian Velvet, colored over them with some Copic markers and traced the images with a fine tip black marker. The white dots really made these come alive and the glossy accents on the body and the antenna. The bright blue squares are little inchies from here.  These little guys were fun to work with. I colored them with twinkling H2O's, stamped the script on them in walnut and distressed the edges. The paper is from Basic Grey. The lace was colored with the same color as my image.
Stop by on Saturday for world card making day and All week Penny Black is featuring their artists so I hope you can stop by.   Hugs, Kathy

20th Anniversay Card

Hello Friends, I hope you had a wonderful weekend. It was my daughters homecoming so I hope to post a photo soon. This week Penny Black is featuring all of their designers on the Penny Black BLOG here with some fun questions. I am up today if you have a minute to stop by...I would  love that :)
As you know we just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and this is the card I made my hubby. Twenty Years
Love the glossy  accents on the eyes.
I stamped the letters with a green ink & cut them out. Then I stamped the letters again with embossing ink and clear powder using the pointille stamp as seen below. Added some walnut distressing ink for dimension. I laid the letters on some craft paper that was stamped with the music notes and distressed the edges. The tiny letters are from SRM stickers. The sweet owl was colored with Copic markers and dotted with a white gel pen. A heavy layer of Glossy Accents was added to the owl's eyes. The yellow paper is from Pink Paislee. I used a new product called Scrap Dot. I find this product to be AWESOME! I was able to get these staggered letters with ease. Scrap Dots is a thick goo that gives you lots of dimension quick and easy and it dries CLEAR!  When I am finished I just set aside to dry.
This is the side view right after I applied it. You can get more info here.
Enjoy you week and thanks again for stopping by. Hugs, Kathy

One stamp two ways and a bonus

IF you haven't already checked out the Penny BLOG I think you will want to especially today. There is many mini cards to tickle your mojo.  I used a CHRISTMAS  stamp and turned it into an every day stamp.

ONE stamp used two ways ONE stamp used two ways

This is one of the new Penny Black stamps that I fell love with. If you don't like to color this stamp is good for you. It's a quick and easy to color or you can paper piece it. When I stamped her for the Birthday girl I simply wiped off the Santa hat with a wet wipe. Then I took a fine black magic marker and drew on the top of her hair. Anyone can do it I promise. Just make dots in lots of dark colors for a fauz lepard fur.

I thought you might like to know how I did the blue background.
Use the lightest Copic color that you have. (I used B0000) Put my tip almost next to the black outline and flick the color away from the line sort of like you are sweeping with a broom. You lay the broom down then push away lifting up the tip.

Then you want to take the next color ( I used B000 or BOO)
All you do is trace around the image. Sorry for the yellow in the photo. I use a small light booth and it doesn't like white.

I needed to make two quick cards for my son and nephew that are away at college and this is what I came up with.

I hope this info was helpful and thanks for letting me share with you. I am going out of town this weekend and have so much to do. I hope you have some fun plans on the horizon. Hugs, Kathy

We have a winner

I can't tell you how exciting I was to see number 18! I know her and think she's an amazing person. I even went to battle with her ( a big 4 week challenge) So let's congratulate Deirdre !! Yay!!

Look at my dog Max isn't he the sweetest? His little tongue  actually dries out and gets hard.
I'll be back with a card tomorrow for you and a big thanks for all of your sweet comments. I hope you day is good.  Hugs, Kathy

A Birthday Book - Caardvarks

Hello Friends,
If you are here to see my Caardvarks cards please scroll down to the next post...sorry :( It's a two post Monday.

This Birthday Book was created with one of SRM's blank calendars. Hop over to their BLOG you will see amazing calenders by the other DT. I  have trouble keeping track of everyone's Birthdays so I created a desk top calender rather than one to hang on the wall. I'll flip through each month to remind me who's birthday is on the horizon. Let's get started with the cover. This one measures  8x8 and other sizes are available here.

It's worth spending a some time on this project because you will have it for a long time. I worked on it in segments so I really enjoyed the process.  The good news is I can use this year after year.

To begin you want to start with stamping all of your images and color them. Now is the best time to add glossy accents. Notice the  present and wand..they will be cut off.

Next step is to measure and cut all of the papers for the top and bottom of each month. I decided that the sewing was a must. Thankfully I enjoy sewing and I  paced myself.

I used two images for the cover and sometimes I like to cut a wig to give the hair  depth and flow. I stamped the bike on the grass so you would see the grass through the spokes instead of the white paper.

Take note of the fairy and the french lady :)

This Christmas image is my favorite. With a little altering she can be used for any season.

Thanks for stopping and for all of your sweet comments. Let me know if you have any questions. This is going to take some time to link all the supplies. I think today I will just do stickers and stamps. Have a great week! Hugs, Kathy

One last thing ...  if you are a Penny Black fan instead of  leaving a comment here can you jump over to the new Penny Black blog and leave some love there? Thanks :)
