ATC and bronze ink

Hello Friends, Just a quick post today. This was created for the Penny Black ATC exchange and I was anxious to share it with you.
I am dying to get out this bronze metallic ink pad again. I need to break away from my lighter blue backgrounds and bring you something different. I also have been anxious to use this stamp again called "Nature's Day". Here is another card I inked up with this stamp. Just love the flowers and the bird!!
When coloring these images I like to put some color down with a Copic marker as my base. Then I like to use my Tombo watercolor markers to add highlights. I do have to be careful not to over color or my paper will pill.
I wrapped the image around the ATC and glued it to the back then I added Glossy Accents to the centers of the flowers. The sentiment is from SRM stickers.
Have a happy week. Hugs, Kathy

Oprah said.... and how it influenced the cover

Hello Friends, How was your weekend?? Any thing exciting going on in your life??
I know that you all can really appreciate what it takes to make a card or a cover and you all understand the language. I feel blessed to share this with you. This fashionista is a cover girl.... actually.... she made the front cover of the Penny Black Catalog 2011.

I love working with this fashion gal and I LOVE her jacket and boots. I colored her with Copic markers & the XPress it paper. The texture on the pants was created by using the blending solution on a rag then dabbing it on the pants. The bow on her jacket was cut from the top of the present stack and added to the back of her jacket . ( I cut off the present stack and inserted the lantern) The lantern and the fashionista are original sizes.

And this is her cover debut and here's the PDF. The other two lanterns were enlarged and I snipped off the lantern's handle then added half of a paper clip for a more dimensional. The large harvest moon was a Spellbinder circle, distressed and stamped with this "Retro Pattern".
My arm was pretty tired after distressing an entire 81/2x11 sheet of card
A few days ago I mentioned that I use this transparent set all the you believe me now?? The snowflakes were stamped in white ink on the background.
Thought you may be interested in the colors on the lanterns. The theme of the cover is "Take Light Where Ever You Go" I was up late one night putting the finishing touches on this cover. An old episode from Oprah was on and she was talking to Ellen. Oprah was telling Ellen how she's such a happy person and that she takes light wherever she goes. BINGO!!!!!!!!!!! That was the perfect sentiment for the cover .... can you believe the timing?? What a compliment from Oprah. Really makes me think do I take light where I go?? What does this sentiment mean to you?? I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for letting me share this cover story with you. Hugs,  Kathy
P.S. Here is a card I made with her and the present stack. This stamp is great for Birthdays too.

Lily Pad Palette Challenge

Hello Friends, Before we get started I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I really appreciate you taking the time to click over to the Penny Black Blog yesterday and leaving sweet comments!! Another thanks to some of you for checking out Kristina's last auction.  :)

Today at the Lily Pad blog these is a new Palette challenge with some new colors. Please keep in mind these colors are a starting point to get you going and you are more than welcome to add colors and suggest colors. This month "A Day for Daisies" is Lily Pad's sponsor. I have to say you will swoon when you look at these fanciful images.

I used four distress inks to create the background and did some stamping and distressing on top of the inking. I ended up cutting out the entire image, popped up the leaves & fairy wings with Scrap Dots.

Don't you love this sentiment?? You may have guessed that it's from SRM stickers and it's one of their newest releases. First I distressed a circle then applied this sticker sentiment.

The white gel pen worked great to highlight the sentiment on the smooth surface. I also added some dots to the leaves and wings. The image was colored with Copic markers.

I would love to hear if there is any request for videos? I am getting closer and getting excited to share with you. :)

Did you know that this is a BIG month at Simon Say's Stamp's blog? It's called "Stamptember & they have lots of exciting things going on. Does prizes interest you...I hear there are a lOT of them?? Check it out hereHave a fantastic weekend and thanks again for your support it's greatly appreciated!! Hugs, Kathy

This way or that ?? With Mimi or without??

Hello Friends :) Anything new since yesterday? I hope only good stuff.
Today is my day on the blog at Penny Black. Did you know that Penny Black gives prizes for comments if you are a club member and don't forget about the weekly challenges too.... more prize opportunities :)

While we are on the topic of "club member" don't forget that you get first crack at the photos of the newest stamps and special project cards etc.

You most likely know that we are featuring the Mimi stamps on the PB blog so without further a do I present my card to you. I like how it looked before I added Mimi and her pooch as you see below. I can't wait to ink up the other stamps in this transparent set called "Christmas Express".  The "Holly Tree" is a cling stamp and you can make a quick Christmas or holiday card with it.

There's lots of little details in this card. The first thing I did was stamp the tree with black ink on watercolor paper. I colored the holly leaves with Tombo water color quick and easy. I wanted to make the trunk of the tree taller and thicker and to achieve that I used markers the same markers from Tombow. The snowy hills that are super easy to cut & layer. I think that this glitter is what made these snowy banks super cool as in temperature

After "coloring" the leaves and berries I used my paint brush to dab on some green stickles on the leaves. Looks so pretty in person :) Notice the berries?? I applied red stickles on the berries THEN I added a blob of glossy accents on top.... it gave the berries such a nice, round, sparkly and a realistic look.

I distressed the background, stamped the snowflakes with "Crystalline" (I use this set all the time) with white ink and then dotted with a white gel pen. Mimi & her pooch were colored with Copic markers and I used the new Copic paper that really blends the colors faster than regular white paper. If you give it a try I would love to hear what you think. I stamped on her hat with this & added falling snow on top.

It's always a luxury when I have time to finish off the inside. I love the metallic inks and wanted to give the inside a different look. I stamped this elegant sentiment on vellum and some more of my snowflakes.
I hope your day is a happy one and thank YOU for your visit. Hugs, Kathy
