a simple thank you with vellum

Thank You
Hello Friends, Anything new with you?? Thanks for your sweet comments on my last card I so appreciate it and I am grateful!!
I can't wait to create more of these butterfly cards they are so simple and fun to recreate. I used a Grand Spellbinder die called "Wonderful Wings" and in case you are wondering...yes you can use any die cutting machine. Here is another card I designed recently with this same set of dies.

It's hard to see but there is three layers of butterflies. A houndstooth paper, vellum and the top layer. For the antenna I smoothed on Glossy Accents on top of some  Sew Easy Floss. Once the floss dried on the antenna it felt hard, stable & easy to work with.

I added lots of Rock Candy Stickles as you can see in this close up and the antenna made from floss is easier to see too. Love how it's matches my thread because it's the same grey floss.

I wrapped the floss around the center before attaching to my card base. It was easy to thread by buttons through the center. Thanks again for your visit. Have a great weekend! Hugs, Kathy

Starbucks Gift Card Holder & a photo

Gift Card Holder
Hello Friends, How are you?? It seems like it has been forever since my last post. My DD just had her junior year homecoming dance. Can you believe she created a pattern to make her own dress for the big day. The DAY OF the dance she told me she wouldn't have enough time to finish the dress!! Imagine my panic.... but, I remained calm. I had some good friends on twitter that sent us some good energy & the stars must have been aligned because we scored a dress and she looked beautiful.
You can find a photo at the bottom of the post. Ok.......... enough about that.
I have a gift card holder for you that I created for the Penny Black blog today. This particular gift card is from Starbucks and it's smaller than the typical one & I found it to be the perfect size for this card.
I can not find this particular card on line so check your local store.

This image called "Little Elf Present" is so much fun to color. (At the bottom of this post I will share another card I created with this same image.)  Here and here are a few other gift card holders I made last year.

This is the envelope that came with the gift card from Starbucks. I carefully pulled it apart to open it up and traced it. The dotted lines show me where to score the gift card holder with a bone folder

Before I cut it out I stamped it with this transparent set from PB. (love the sentiments)  I stamped the sentiment and poinsettia with red ink and outlined them with a blue copic marker.

Before I glue down the gift card envelope I dry embossed my paper with my favorite embossing folder here.

To apply the glitter on the small accents I used a glue pen that makes life so easy. The glitter is from  Martha Stewart. Since I can't find small jingle bells I added there yummy pearl dots with a Pearl Pen that I just fell in love with. The face colors are listed in the supply list below. Any green or red will do.

Here is the other card and now the photo I promised. I hope you don't mind me sharing.  Have a great week & thank YOU for stopping by I so appreciate you taking time from your day! Hugs, Kathy

You know what's funny about this?? I ordered a corsage instead of a boutonniere. Both of them took it in stride.
Here's a photo of the paparazzi parents.

Now for my card...I had so much fun creating this for the elderly and I know they always love pets. These adorable images are from Penny Black & colored with Copic markers. After stamping a texture on the truck I sprayed a copper mist on top. I LOVE the the soft glimmer sheen this spray adds to the truck. I added lots of Glossy Accents on the front window.
(You will find the supplies at the bottom of this post.)

I love taking an embossing folder after dry embossing my paper swipe it with white ink directly on the paper. Last October I designed two cards for with this same technique so if you would like to see the cards click here.

You can see the copper up close and its a beautiful shimmer especially on the red marker. See the berries?? I added three coats of Glossy Accents on each one. Let it dry between each application but, I can promise you will love the dimension. Let me know if you have any questions.
