reusable place cards- simons donation

Hello Friends, How are you today? I am super excited & honored to be participating in
"The Simon Says Stamp Gratitude Blog Hop AND Charity Donation".
To start at the beginning of the hop go to
Simon's blog here. If you are arriving from the lovely & creative Sarah Moerman's blog you are in the right place.
During this season of giving thanks I can't think of a better way to share a few of the things that I am grateful for besides health, family, friends and all that. Well frankly I am grateful for all of you that frequent my blog. I am also thankful for the internet which connects us all in this wonderful way around the world. Such a great way to share, blog, be inspired, pin, shop etc.
I look forward to hearing what you are grateful for :)
Last year I made these place cards for Thanksgiving and this year I wanted to make some REUSABLE place cards.
Reusable place cards appealed to me so I set out to design some. With an acetate strip you can remove the names and use year after year. Switch up the colors and make some for Christmas or the New Year.
Just hand write in each name after the "thankful for you" as you see in the place card laying down.
Die cut some card stock with this exclusive die from Simon Says Stamp.
Trace around the cut edges with a pencil leaving a margin.
Stamp and emboss this sticky back canvas with clear or white embossing powder using the Hero Arts stamp called "Lotus Background"
Use Tea Dye stain on your embossed canvas. Watch it come to life.
Add some Walnut Distress ink directly on top.... pad to paper/ canvas.
Spray with Perfect Pearls. Love the shine and set aside to dry.
Trace with a pencil the outside of this die from Spellbinders from some white card stock. This will give you the a nice white edge. Adhere the canvas onto the traced card stock.
Stamp your sentiment on a white strip of paper. Cut some acetate the same size to layer on top of the white strip. Add a tiny dot of Glossy Accents to adhere the acetate. Place a gem on top so you won't see it. Using acetate allows you to re- use your place cards each year. Use  a Copic marker to write the names in and after Thanksgiving remove the names with this
Simons Says Stamp will be giving away a $50.00 donation (to the charity of a commenter's choice) from EACH BLOG IN THE HOP! Just leave a comment with what you are most grateful for & you will be entered in the drawing. After the winner is randomly selected Simon Says Stamp will be in touch with you to find out the charity you have chosen. Winners will be drawn on Wed, 11/28.

mini blog hop with friends - giveaway too

Hello my friends, How was your weekend? If you are new to my blog a warm welcome to you. Today is a really fun day because Kristina Werner, Jennife McGuire r, Jana Millen and I are inking up the same stamp. If you are wondering how this happened ....we were at a retreat together and chit chatting about having a mini blog hop & with that said Kristina began drawing with magic her magical hands ... the rest is history. Heidi from Simon Says Stamp put the newly created stamp into production. With great pleasure I introduce you to
"Furry Christmas" ! This was inspired by Kristina's cat, Mannie, Jennifer's dog, Roxy and my dog, Max!! THANK YOU Kristina for designing such a fun stamp!
I love this stamp so much that
I purchased "Furry Christmas to GIVEAWAY :)
Just join my following or subscribe to my blog and or follow my pins then leave a comment.
A random winner will be selected next week.
Before you hop to the other blogs I have a mini tutorial on how I altered this house on my card and a quick color application too. If you aren't interested hope on over to Kristina's, Jennifer's and Jana's blog then. :) Before you do that ... a few details... I added a series of lines to the scarf with this ultra thin Copic marker. Enamel Accents were added to the animals eyes so they pop and Glossy Accents to the noses. This awesome die cut made it super easy to create a fun and unique background. This gave my background some texture and subtle shine.
I like to add B0000 and B02 to outline the edges of my snow. Just cut some wavy lines from scrap paper, outline the edges and stager on the base of your card. Trim to fit your card.
I just had to ink up this house for my background but, I altered the house for some fun. Super easy ...all you do is trace the lines of your stamp with a  Memento marker. Do not trace the bottom of the house as you see below.
Proceed to stamp on some white card stock. This marker I use every day to trace around THE EDGES of my stamped images after cutting. (I used to get smudges when I used a black Copic marker but, rarely do any more thanks to the Memento marker.)
Use a ruler to extend the lines of the house and cut out.
Use a Copic marker ( I used C4) and scribble the color on making lines and NOT blending or completely coloring. Fast, easy and effective.
Do the same thing with E31.
Once you add the windows, apply Glossy Accents I think you will see how the colored lines add texture to the house. Kristina designed this stamp set too and it's so versatile. Thank you for your visit  I am grateful ! Don't forget to visit my sweet and talented friends blogs.  Jennifer, Kristina and Jana you will be so happy that you did. Have a happy day, Kathy
