hello card and winners

Hello Friends, How was your weekend? Are you getting into the holiday spirit yet?
Today I want to share an everyday card and some winners with you. First up...how about the card details? I was watching my friend Jennifer create a beautiful bow for an ornament card with this corner bow die cut. I was determined to use the corner bow in a different way like Jennifer did. Can you find the die on my card? It was perfect for the curled smoke coming from the cozy chimney. I embellished the smoke with some white pen detail :)
"Where the heart is" & "Stylish Simon"are the stamps I used and a bonus....they have coordinating stamps & dies ...super cool!  The cloud is cut with this from WASHI PAPER!! On this card I created washi clouds with tape instead of washi paper. Please email me if you have any other questions.
Now for theWINNERS
The winner in this post (BasicGrey and washi tape) is Kelly
The winner in this post (Gnome for the Holidays) is Winnie
The winner in this post (Furry Christmas) is RedGem
AND THE WINNER of the GRATITUDE BLOG HOP is Felicia (Felicia gets to choose her favorite charity for Simon Says Stamp to make a donation on her behalf.
Thank YOU SIMON SAYS FOR a generous donation on the behalf of a lucky blog winner. What an awesome way to celebrate this season of gratitude!

Have a great week and THANK YOU for your visit. Hugs, Kathy

leftover stars

Hello Friends, How are you?? It feels like it's been forever since my last post !?
We are enjoying our new home along with the fun part of moving... unpacking & workmen :)

This
sweet image called "Fairy Holly" from Penny Black has been colored for months and finally I took time to create a place for her to land. This die cut from Simon Says Stamp was on my wish list & I am delighted to be creating with it. I was determined to use all parts of the die...even the leftover stars. They were too perfect to go in the trash bin after die cutting the moon (that was created with circles from Spellbinders.)
A yellow Copic was used to give the stars and the moon a soft glow. The sentiment was carried into the inside to finish the phrase. This glue pen is the only one that works perfectly every time for anything tiny especially delicate letters.
I used this soft shimmer on the background and her wings because I wanted a soft, fine glow.
On the moon  I was going for lots of shine so I used some distress stickles like this and I added a tad of color with a Copic Y11 marker.
Here
is another card I created with the die cut from Simon Says Stamp. Thank you for your visit I am so happy you take the time to stop in. Off to bed because the workmen arrive at 7am! Not a good schedule for a night owl. Hugs, Kathy

reusable place cards- simons donation

Hello Friends, How are you today? I am super excited & honored to be participating in

"The Simon Says Stamp Gratitude Blog Hop AND Charity Donation".
To start at the beginning of the hop go to
Simon's blog here. If you are arriving from the lovely & creative Sarah Moerman's blog you are in the right place.
During this season of giving thanks I can't think of a better way to share a few of the things that I am grateful for besides health, family, friends and all that. Well frankly I am grateful for all of you that frequent my blog. I am also thankful for the internet which connects us all in this wonderful way around the world. Such a great way to share, blog, be inspired, pin, shop etc.
I look forward to hearing what you are grateful for :)

Last year I made these place cards for Thanksgiving and this year I wanted to make some REUSABLE place cards.
Reusable place cards appealed to me so I set out to design some. With an acetate strip you can remove the names and use year after year. Switch up the colors and make some for Christmas or the New Year.
Just hand write in each name after the "thankful for you" as you see in the place card laying down.
Die cut some card stock with this exclusive die from Simon Says Stamp.
Trace around the cut edges with a pencil leaving a margin.
Stamp and emboss this sticky back canvas with clear or white embossing powder using the Hero Arts stamp called "Lotus Background"
Use Tea Dye stain on your embossed canvas. Watch it come to life.
Add some Walnut Distress ink directly on top.... pad to paper/ canvas.
Spray with Perfect Pearls. Love the shine and set aside to dry.
Trace with a pencil the outside of this die from Spellbinders from some white card stock. This will give you the a nice white edge. Adhere the canvas onto the traced card stock.
Stamp your sentiment on a white strip of paper. Cut some acetate the same size to layer on top of the white strip. Add a tiny dot of Glossy Accents to adhere the acetate. Place a gem on top so you won't see it. Using acetate allows you to re- use your place cards each year. Use  a Copic marker to write the names in and after Thanksgiving remove the names with this
Simons Says Stamp will be giving away a $50.00 donation (to the charity of a commenter's choice) from EACH BLOG IN THE HOP! Just leave a comment with what you are most grateful for & you will be entered in the drawing. After the winner is randomly selected Simon Says Stamp will be in touch with you to find out the charity you have chosen. Winners will be drawn on Wed, 11/28.
