u- tube share and a giveaway

Good Morning Friends, I have another GIVEAWAY.

A very special person in my life, Brian Mitchell, is a junior in high school. Brian is the most incredible well rounded person I have ever met. Not only is he highly intelligent, he's an amazing athlete, compassionate, loving and creative to boot ... thats Brian in a nutshell!
ANYWAY...his mom sent me this video and said,

"I wanted to share Brian's documentary (~ 10 mins) that he created from start to finish for his school's National History Day project this Wed...he hopes to enter this documentary into state competition.  I cannot tell you the countless hours he spent on primary research (interviews, articles, phone calls, trips to Baltimore & DC, etc) then the actual filming/editing/voice overlay process...it is on you tube so pls click the link below!"

HERE IS THE LINK
I would love it if you could click on the link and view Brian's U-Tube video. I will draw a random winner the at the end of next week from the comment area at Brian's U-Tube video.
You do not need to comment here. Have a great day! Hugs, Kathy

P.S. The giveaway goodies are in the photo. You will find many way to use the Smash Box items and who doesn't love Hero Arts banners. :)

giveaway ... night and morning sky

Hello Friends, How are  you today? I hope you had a lovely and relaxing weekend with some sunny skies. Speaking of skys ...... I had some fun creating the sky on my card. The night sky is peeled back to reveal the morning sky at the top of the card.

GIVEAWAY:
The wood veneer stars I am giving away. I hear that they are hard to keep in stock at Simon Says Stamp. You know the drill by now...just leave a comment and I will randomly draw a winner the end of next week. (If you want to spread the news of my giveaway on FB or your blog you can add your name again in the comment area for an extra chance to win :)
This transparent stamp set is from Penny Black called, "Love is in the Air" and I find it to be such a versatile set . I stamped the "Crystal Background" with this ink ... then added some distress inks.
I drew some random patches resembling fields and colored with some markers. When I was finished I added "Mowed Lawn" to shade the landscape.
I used a white gel pen to color the wood veneer stars & once they were dry I gingerly added a touch of yellow with a Copic marker in the right corners. (white gel and copic markers aren't to friendly)
Add Glossy Accents on the stars and the airplane. Do you like my peeled away sky??
Thank You again for your visit...always so appreciated. Hugs, Kathy

basicgrey & cardmaker magazine blog hop

Hello Friends, How are you today? Roll up your sleeves and grab your favorite morning beverage because I am apart of a fun hop today. Welcome to BasicGrey and CardMaker Magazine's blog hop. To start at the beginning of the hop go to CardMaker's blog. If you are arriving from Ivanka's Lentle's blog you are in the right place. (Love her style!)
If you know me it's hard to create just one card and I always have a few tips for you too.
I wanted to give these "True Love Woven Labels" center stage.
The patterns in the True Love collection are pretty enough to frame and hang on the wall! The colors are so me! For my card I created a frame out of some scrap cardboard with this die cut, added some distress ink and applied LOTS of "Utee". (more on that below in this post)
I always have some extra bits that I am able to pull together another card . So fun creating this way.
I used two of the three embellishments I created from  this "True Love" BasicGrey/ Hero Arts stamp set for my bookmark.
In this photo I was testing the ink I wanted to use. Hero Arts Brown Bark ink won out.
After I stamped the sentiment in "Brown Bark" ink...I traced over it with a red copic marker.
Punch or die cut a circle, distress the edges so that center glows and emboss several times with Utee.
Add some distress ink on the edges of your paper to draw the eye to the center of your card.
To get a thick and rich glossy coating on my frame and embellishments I applied three or four coats of the embossing powder called Utee. It's thick and gives a nice coating of glossiness to your project. (When the embossed surface is still hot plunge it back into your powder and shake off the excess and heat again.
Here's a close up of the embellishments I made from stamping and embossing. Thanks for hopping and stopping by my blog :) DON'T FORGET TO visit BasicGrey... the word is that they have a nice giveaway on the BasicGrey blog :)
NOW IT'S TIME TO HOP TO JENNIE HARPER'S BLOG. (Love how Jennie uses color!) Thanks again, Kathy
P.S. Check out this post for a BasicGrey giveaway from me.
