giveaway and coloring without shading

Hello Friends, I'm sure your days are filled with such sadness and tears for the devastation happening in Oklahoma. Have you heard of the quick and easy way to donate to the Red Cross? All  you have to do is "Text REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10 to American Red Cross Disaster Relief, which helps people affected by disasters ....." It's amazing how just $10.00 can add up and make a difference.
How about a little incentive?? If you donated $10.00 or more to the Red Cross or another charity just leave me a comment confirming that you donated. A $50.00 gift voucher is up for grabs to the Simon Says Stamp store. I will pick a random winner next week.
How about  a little sunshine? I think I have been waiting for this "Sunshine" die cut for a long time. It's hot off the press from Simon Says Stamp. Have you wondered why some dies are more money? The more metal the more money. :)
I barely did any shading on this stamp. I added lots of details instead... like lace, white trim, stripes, thicker glasses etc. etc. The "Mad Rider" was purchased at Simon but, it's out of stock right now :(
And I leave you with a photo from prom. Thanks for your visit and for considering donating. Hugs, Kathy

Hello Friends, I hope you all are having a nice and relaxing weekend. Judging from the comments on my June Card Kit Giveaway .... sounds like many of you have some celebrating coming up soon. Birthday's ...Graduations etc. It's an exciting time... ABSOLUTELY! Which brings me to my card today.
The "Absolutely" die cut from Simon Says Stamp is so much fun and I like it so much I decided to use the mirror image in my talk bubble. The papers and the "You're the greatest" is part of the May Card Kit from Simon. The "Talk Bubbles" die cuts I have used several times and I plan to use them in a project life album too. It's hard to tell in this photo but, I mounted the talk bubble on some white card stock for my card.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Hugs, Kathy
P.S. If you like clam chowder I just posted a recipe here and the bonus is that the chowder is dairy free.
P.S.S. Have you seen Simon Says Stamps NEW Release? OMG! It's fantastic!

giveaway - june card kit

Hello Friends, How are you today? Hopefully your day will be a little brighter because I have the NEW & exciting Simon Says Stamp JUNE 2013 card kit to GIVEAWAY to one of you!

If I had a crystal ball I would guess that this kit will sell out fast. I know first hand that Simon works really hard at making enough kits to meet demand and believe it or not... their goal is NOT to sell out. Yup... they like to have extra card kits on hand. Nothing worse when you want something and you can't get it right? That becomes frustrating for you and for Simon. Unfortunately, it's hard to predict how many kits will sell & sometimes they don't get the numbers right. So that's it in a nutshell but, I thought it was important for you to know that in case you ordered a Kelly Purkey kit or one of the Simon kits and they were sold out.

(if you have ordered the kit you will be refunded the amount of the card kit)Please mark your calendar to check back. If you don't have a blog leave me your email... thanks :)
In my last post I created two Father's Days cards with the June kit. It's no surprise that everything is still out on my desk... LUCKY ME.... so it was easy to throw together tonight's card. The Penny Black owl called "Very Wise" was sitting on my desk ... so on it went.
I thought I would show you the difference a few dots and some Enamel Accents makes. I always end up making the pupil of the eyes larger because I think it brings the images to life. Here is a post I did on eyes. See the "before"owl on the right and the "after" on the left.
I ended up using Glossy Accents on the graduation hat to resemble that shiny fabric all hats are made from. I always clip the fur on my critters and I noticed in this large photo I missed a spot on the left of the eye! ... it's driving me nuts lol.
I wanted to use this die cut house more as a symbolic house ..... leaving the nest sort of thing. When I popped the house I purposely left it askew for a shadow effect.  I flipped over this cool wooden banner and used these letters to create my message. I can't believe the letters fit so perfectly. Love it when things work out so seamlessly. Thanks for popping in today I so appreciate it. Have a great weekend! Hugs, Kathy

fathers day - june card kit

Hello Friends, How was your weekend? I hope it was full of sunshine :)
Today Simon Says Stamp is debuting their NEW June Card Kit 2013. I think you will love it as much as I do.
Like I always say.... the value is incredible and I only say it because it's the truth. I had so much fun creating paper with the stamp set in the kit for my two Father's Day Cards.
The Hero Arts Charcoal ink was the perfect masculine color to stamp my background with and on trend too. I created a window with this die cut that's incredibly versatile. Here is another card I created with that same die.
I used some 40lb vellum over the die so the "window" would stand out more in a way.
I distressed with with Gathered Twigs after stamping on the paper from BasicGrey called Hipster.
Just a snap shot of the vellum and the paper I created with this stamp set in the kit BEFORE I distressed it.
The wood tags really popped when I added distress ink to them as well. Easy and fun!
I stuck the sticker letters to the card stock in the card kit. Cut them out and added Glossy Accents. I used a this tool to hold them down while adding the glossy accents.
The second card is for my awesome step dad... better known as a "bonus dad". I wish you could see how the letters pop with the glossy accents but, I am sure you can visualize. Thanks so much for your visit and hope to see you soon. Hugs, Kathy
