marker storage from soup cans

Hello Friends, How are you today?? I have lots to share today along with  a glowing review of the hot new markers so I hope you have a few minutes :) SRM stickers has been reviewing the new alcohol markers from LePlume by Marvy all week with DT reviews and cards!!

I was lucky enough to have the privilege to review these markers and since marker storage is something a lot of us look for I decided to create some decorative marker "cans" from soup cans.

I designed the cans for my personal marker storage and in the end decided to give them all away for gifts. I think I need to buy some more soup now...lol. The cellophane bag was recycled from my SRM sticker package. These markers are so affordable they make a great  gift. The hanging tag is from this ribbon tag but, I cut the bottom off.

First I have to tell you I was so excited, thrilled & honored when I got the news that I was able to give the markers a try. It didn't take me long to fall in love with the colors, the selection and the tip on the Le Plume's. They blend so nicely and work great from tip to tip. I am being 100% honest when I say that I think everyone should start with the LePlume markers to see if coloring is their "thing" once you run out of ink...if you run out..... then it's time to consider a switch to a refillable marker like Copic. If you want to decorate some soup cans for gifts here is a tutorial for you. The supply list will be at the bottom of my post.



Cut strips of paper to fit your cans. If the label removes easily use the soup label as your template. The scalloped edge is from a paper trimmer byMarvy here. Distress your paper then add a white strip at the top and glue or sew to attach it onto your paper strips.



Die cut your shapes. Love this die from Spellbinders. Use the same colors of distress ink  as your paper strips. Stamp the background with Vintage Photo ( I used this stamp from Penny Black) and add some white pen details. (I dotted the background and added stitching)



Stamp your flowers with this and color with markers in the same colors as your distress ink.



Design your layout and add your SRM stickers to each label.



Use Glossy Accents to adhere the paper strips to your can first so you have a nice finished seam down the back of your can. Curve your labels then glue with Glossy Accents again. Add some white Enamel Accents to the centers of the flowers. Set aside to dry.

I'm not sure if I will fill these up with candy, markers or cookies for my friends. I still have time to figure that out.

I have to share the close up. I did use some foam dots in different places on the flowers.

P.S. The card was created the same way as I did for the cans except the sentiment is from this ...one of SRM 's new fancy stickers. Love them!!  For the label's 14 (die cut by Spellbinders) in the center I stacked some cardboard and glued them together with Glossy Accents. I was happy with the finished look this gave to my card.
