Happy New Year! I hope 2014 is filled with lots of love, happiness, good health & some craftiness too. 

Before the new year starts I look back and reflect on the past years.
 I can't tell you enough or thank you enough for your support and visits to my blog.
Sharing though blogging and crafting has enriched my life in many ways and you all are a big part of that.
THANK YOU!!!!! 

All NINE of these cards were created with Simon Say's January Card Kit. I would be surprised if they don't sell out soon. The "Big Love You" is the perfect size to make a statement for some speedy love cards. It's a love connection with these Fancy Pants papers (that are included in the card kit). The steal grey paper is a heart warming color and I will be ordering more of it.
 Here are other cards created with the kit. 

I was pleasantly surprised to see the "Large Edger Punch" still in the store. Sometimes I like to reach for my favorite punches when making some quick cards. Thank You again!! Hugs, Kathy

a blog named hero week one and winners announced

Hello Friends,  Anything new since yesterday? Did you notice the bait and switch during the Video Hop? First one to guess what it is will win a goodie bag from me. (hint if you are here that's a clue)

Today is a new day and I am excited and honored to able to participate in A Blog Named Hero's "Dear Santa" extravaganza all month. If you are stuck on inspiration for your holiday cards or just stumped in general ... well.... just be prepared to be blown away with the creativity you see on their blog. 

For some reason I thought I was supposed to create a card set. That's me to mess things up but, someone will be getting a card set soon. The tin that I repurposed for my card set was from this card kit from Simon Says Stamp.
This deer stamp from Hero Arts card was the perfect subject for a holiday card. After stamping the deer in a light color I stamped this background on top of the light deer with a darker Luxe ink. I fell in love with the "Floral Bouquet" background stamp so I had to color it with some Copic markers. The bouquet between the deers antlers was cut from the background. The layering papers are a nice and heavy card stock from Bazzill.

The deer card below was modified into a one layer card to fit into the tin.

The front of the tin was covered with white card stock that I stamped and colored slightly different from the colors on the cards in the set. 

It's easier to compare both cards in this photo.       

Mask off your card stock with masking tape to create a "one" layer card. 

Use the chisel end of your marker to create the look of an additional piece of card stock.

Stamp the deer on a strip of card stock and color with a glitter pen, add a bow and glue between the green lines (be sure to let some of the green show) . Questions? Please send me an email.

simon says card kit ... the final

Sorry about the BasicGrey sneak peek in my last post. I wasn't notified of a change ..... I will let you know next Tuesday when it will be on the BasicGrey blog. 

My mom was wondering when I was going to finish her Christmas gift that she saw on my blog!! Well....here you go mom! Hope you like them :)

This is how they look all packaged up with envelopes and stamps. Love this nice and heavy vellum from Simon. I cut, scored and wrapped the cards in the vellum. The big yummy button was in the Jan card kit too. 

This is a another take on my "unfinished" card set. Don't you love all of these fun prints? The paper was included in my Simon Says January card kit but, you can get if from Lily Bee called "Persnickety" 

After I die cut the hearts with Simon Says Stamps exclusive die cuts I traced the hearts with the marker. This extra step really makes them stand out. BUT...do it quickly or the paper will bleed to much. 

If you will be stamping onto a die cut  place the die cut (my banner) back into the negative space and  the banner will stay in place so you can stamp easily onto it without it moving. See the top of the photo. 

Have you seen these banners before? Love how they add so much to my card set. I changed the score lines that are on the die cut to accomodate the sentiment in the front of the photo because it was longer than the other ones. 

These are all of parts before assembling. I considered letting my mom have some fun and be able to play around with it but, nixed that idea. Here is project that I did before where the recipient could play around and add hearts and the sentiments. 

Just zeroing in on the sentiments from this stamp set...so many great ones. 

Rock Candy distress stickles made my hearts have a nice subtle shimmer.
