what to do with those smudges

Hello Friends, How was your week? It's amazing to think Friday is here already but, don't get me wrong I am happy the weekend is here. Today on the Lily Pad blog Virginia has posted an inspirational photo to get your mojo going & the DT has created beautiful cards to help with that mojo  too. Letraset is sponsoring Lily Pad for this challenge. The DT was lucky to get to test Letraset's alcohol markers with a brush tip. I love the vibrant colors and I love flowers so this card is what I ended up with using the photo as a jump start. This transparent set of flowers is from Penny Black, the critters are from Purple Onion and this sentiment sticker is from SRM stickers. (all supplies listed below this post.)

By the way have you "re-inked" your stamp pad lately, I just got this and it made such a difference so I thought I would share in case you haven't re-inked recently. The hand stitching was easy with this foam pad becasuse its so easy to pierce the card stock before I sew. After I masked my flowers with this, stamped, masked and stamped again I colored my new stamped background. I decided to use an oval Spellbinder to give me some dimension and more interest. After cutting an oval in the center...I cut the some of the flowers out of the center to use on top of the white background. White dots were added to the flowers centers. Let me know if you have any questions & if you like you can refer to this video. I like to call this technique "palette blending" that I used to color the flowers. 
Now are you wondering about the title of this post? "What to do with those smudges?"

It's been awhile since I have gotten a smudge this bad but, I was determined to use "Poppy". 
When  in doubt...cut it out. Literally!! I sliced her down the middle and added her to my card peeping out to cheer someone up. Here is another card with a shared smudge (tips are all the way at the bottom.) Any plans for the weekend?? I hope it's a good one. Thanks for poppin in :) Hugs, Kathy

Lily Pad Palette Color Challenge

Hello Friends. How are you today?? Are things looking up in 2012 for you? Thank you for your feedback in my 2011 in review post. I so appreciate it & I will address all of your requests!!
I have good news...Lily Pad is ready to resume' it's color challenges & I hope you will have a chance to play along :)

What do you think of the colors?? If you click on over to Lily Pad you will see another color palette this week & the DT's inspiring cards. Keep in mind that you do NOT have to use all three colors and you are free to add your own. These are designed as a jumping point for you. 

I thought the free flowing tail was so fun on this peacock by "Crafts Lounge". For some reason I wanted to give my colored pencils and chance to prove themselves again. When I finished coloring I used a Dove Blender to soften the pencil lines. Then a white gel pen was a must to add some dots. The stitching was super easy with the this and this.  Sometimes I like to use the Tim Holtz ruler because the holes are closer together. The nice thing about the sew easy pink thing is it has lines that guide me so I get a nice and straight line with my holes. All I do is tape down the ruler so I don't get any movement. 

As you might remember I will bring you a simple card to share with you as well. I saved time not coloring the tail and cut it off. Super easy layering made this fast and easy. The left over turquoise floss was used to create the flower. Just coat it with Glossy Accents and it gets nice and stiff. I made a large flower here the same way.

Winter is around the corner

Hello Friends, How was your weekend?? I saw my first bright orange & red leaf a few days ago but, I'm waiting for that crisp feel in the air. My hope is that fall lingers and the only snow I see this year is on cards :)


The theme this week at the Penny Black blog is snowmen.... so if it's still hot in your neck of the woods maybe this week on the PB blog you will cool off. Yesterday Jill created one of her wonderful PB& J videos and today you will find my card on the blog. I colored these sweet images with a combination of Copic markers & Le Plume markers on X-Press paper from Copic. The highlights on the snowman were added with some Tombow markers.

I love creating frames and it's super easy with Spellbinders. For this frame I used Wonky Rectangles.



The 'Sew Easy" piercing mat makes piercing must easier and I love the color and the squares to help guide me. You can't really see the dimension on the snowman's eyes and buttons. They really resemble "coal" when you use Enamel Accents. If you are wondering about the paper it's in the supply list below. This is starting to sound like an ad or something.
