put wings on it

Hello Friends, Are you experiencing snow and or sleet in your part of the world? I know on the east coast we are expecting a big storm today so we will see what actually happens. Snowy days are a good day to craft and to try something new, fun or different. How about adding wings to a BATTERY? I took the "Paulina" butterfly, cut it in half and jazzed up the butterfly wings. The sentiment and battery are in the December Card Kit or can be purchased individually here.
Once the embossing paste dried I added some ink to fill in the other areas of the butterfly wings. If you happened to notice the die cut I used on my card it's from Spellbinders
This snowflake stencil I used on the wings & for the background is a great size . I thought I would share a photo before the clear embossing paste dries. I just love this stuff .. the TEXTURE is just awesome!! You can use almost anything to apply the paste but, if you use a palette knife I think it's easier and more efficient.

Why stop at one card with the fun battery stamp...so I designed one more quick one.
When my kids were small I loved it when the batteries were included with a gift. The background was stamped with this  & the batteries were colored with some Copic markers. The card shape is called, "Rounded Squares".
As you might imagine glossy accents was the perfect finish to the batteries.
The December Card kit has some nice and thin washi tape that I used next to the small strip of red paper on the card.
Thanks for your comments during the hop. If you missed the hop you still have time to win lots of gift vouches. Check it out here.
Thanks for your visit today :) Stay warm and dry. Hugs, Kathy

super quick card

Hello Friends, How are you today? I'm running in a million different directions as I imagine you are too? I thought I would pop in with a quick card. Why so quick? I colored my images months ago as you can see in this post here. I love everything about this stamp set called "Sweet as Honey" from Penny Black. Here is a post with just the bees.
to bee honest...ha ha. This is the fastest I have EVER layered a card. I die cut labels 14 with two of the these papers from Doodlebug at the same time. (I have one to spare since I cut two papers at the same time.)
Slice both layers at the same time in your trimmer off center & glue down. It's a simple as that :)
These sequins from Kelly Purkey matched perfectly with the paper. After gluing the sequins with a glue pen I just had to add a white dot with Enamel Accents.  The flower was colored with Copic markers. Let me know if you have any questions. Have a great weekend and a huge thanks for your visit. Hugs, Kathy

a sweet treat for you

Hello... hello.... again my friends:) How are you today? I always get so excited when I get to share a few cards for The Simon Says Stamp blog and today is no exception. Today on my blog I have two peeks to bait your curiosity and two technique photos.
On Simon's blog I share how to alter a stamp using this small Memento ink. I also share how handy a bendable ruler can be. I use this larger one and it's so useful for so many things especially backgrounds, hills, mountains, journaling etc.
I also give you a tip on adding the sharp tips on the feathers on the barn owls feathers.  Since most of you are kind enough and or already visit Simon Says I have a little treat for you. (owl photo link here)

Penny Black "Twinkling Tree" is up for grabs. If you leave a comment on the SSS blog you will be entered to win The "Twinkling Tree". Please leave me a comment here letting me know that you visited SSS blog. This way I will be sure to select one of my readers. If you don't have a blog PLEASE include your email address. I will announce the random winner the end of next week.

I am curios.... did you notice the numbers on the doors on one of the cards at Simon? Did you know what I was going for? The bachelor owl.... is choosing whooo is behind door number 1 or door number 2? Ok just had to ask? Have a great day my friends and a happy 4th of July if you are from the USA. Hugs, Kathy
