Lucy's Wedding Card

I made this card weeks ago for Lucy and Andy's wedding and I have been wanting to share but, keep forgetting. After this post I'm going to post the winner of my little contest. If you are wondering what contest???? I wanted to collect as many wedding cards for Lucy and Andy from many places in the states and over seas and then a winner of the "best' card (in the judges eyes) would win a gift certificate to shop at Hero Arts...so more later.

Blog Hop........ A BIG Thank You to Hero Arts!!

Thanks for hopping by to see my Thank You card for Hero Arts. It was really important for me to participate in this "Blog Hop" because I really admire Hero Arts as a company and a trend setter in the industry. The challenges that HA posts on their blog weekly has changed my life in all kinds of creative ways and has given me a new passion...making cards! So a BIG Thank You to Hero Arts from me. I got started using Hero Arts products purchased from my favorite stamp store in Reston, VA. It's called Angela's Happy Stamper ... they have the best products and classes there. I was taking a class from Laura and she told me I should check out Hero Arts BLOG. (Now I already knew about the web site ) Well those few words ..."Check our their blog" really truely changed me creatively. BB ...Before the blog I just never had a starting point and once I caught wind of the challenges that was it for me!!! A day doesn't go by where I don't check the blog first thing and a week doesn't go by that I don't enter a challenge!! Except for vacations and then I go through withdrawl!!!
So that's my story...and I'm so grateful that I was one of eight to be chosen as a "Hero Arts Hostess" I accepted with great pride and JOY!!! When I return from vacation hopefully I'll get my Hostess blinkie working.

Card Details: Everything is from Hero Arts, The notecard, Gems, buttons and stamps. I used the swirley frames stamp and embossed in white and cut with a blade. The flower is stamped the same way from the flower design stamp and then cut out. All surfaces are distressed in Lettuce and Denium Ranger ink. I wish you could see the brillance of the gems...HA's are the best that I have ever used. Sorry I'm not at home to give more details :)

The challenge for this week at Hero Arts is to make a card with monochromatic colors. I got a big surprise in the mail the other day for a special friend...she sent me this wonderful pad of paper that I used in the card to make her a Thank You. The flowers were white paper from Hero Arts. I used ink to "color" then and then added lots of layers of embossing powder.

Raspberry Suite Color Inspiration Challenge #12

Today I am entering Dawn McVey's color challenge #12. For this challenge you can only use the colors see above but, any stamp that you like. For my RED I'm using Hero Arts gems in red and bright pink. For the flower I decided to use Hero Arts leaf again ...... I turned the points of the leaves inward and embossed them with clear embossing powder to make the flower.

Today I have my last card for this weeks challenge for Hero Arts.

I made this card years ago inspired by Lisa Spangler on the Hero Arts web sight.

I still love to look at the card because it brings back great memories & I LOVE the design. I remember being so excited to copy the design, I read the instructions word for word and placed all the pieces in almost the exact same place as Lisa's. I was going to copy the card I made but, went to be bed with that idea in mind. I woke up with a new design ...how lucky and I couldn't wait to get started on my new idea. I scored the window shutters to give them more depth and they actually opened & closed until I decided to affix them so the bird would stay stationary . I was worried about the birds legs and how to attach him then ended up attaching him by the tail. I colored all the elements with Copic markers then used Glossy Accents on top and before drying I placed a Gem in the middle. Have a great weekend!

Hello All, Just a few tid bits....

Now for the cards....please notice on the owl....I stitched a copper thread on the feathers!! I took the stamped image & markers with me to the hospital when I was visiting Ryan. This is the first time I chose the paper first and matched the markers to the paper. The flourish is from Spellbinders "Charm Embossing Kit"and I stamped, inked and UTEEed it...same for the butterfly (Martha Steward punch) I broke the bunch on this butterfly!!!! :( When I was finished with the owl card somehow I got a smudge on the face!!!! So had to spend more time camouflaging by adding feathers!!

The flamingo card was really fun to put together especially because I already had the background!

Notebook Cover Page

Monday I was lucky enough to spend time with my lovely niece. She is a senior this year and preparing for college. She wanted to jazz up her boring black binder so how could I refuse this beautiful face.

I used Ranger Alcohol inks on photo paper (not perfect) to make a tie dye look and then we punched flowers from the paper we created. Added buttons and faux stitching ...threw in a few mushrooms and a butterfly and that was it. I told her when we have more time we'll come back with a knockout page!

Just Saying Hello

I have a card to share with you. This week the challenge at Hero Arts is to create something that is inspired by anything on the heroarts.com....you will find some amazing inspiration there. My card was inspired by Jennifer McGuire. Click on the link to see her beautiful card.

Here are the details for mine. I used the scattered leaves set from HA (CL298)For the flower I stamped 5 leaves on dotted paper from Papertrey Ink. I embossed the leaves in clear embossing powder then I distressed them with "Worn Lipstick" by Ranger. I stamped another leaf on green paper and embossed it the same way. For the green leaf I pluged in my iron and put two paper towels on top of my leaf and pressed the iron for a 40 seconds or so. The embossing lifts off and then you are able to ink a message on the surface.(all occasion CL272) After stamping my leaf I used "Glossy Accents" to dot the dots. For the yellow boarder I used the design block flowers (S5025) and embossed in white. The background stamping is from the scattered leaves set...I used clear embossing powder. Mitch and Max

Mitch, Max and I had some time for boating this weekend. . It was so nice to have no plans and just do what we felt like. Max loved the boat and felt very comfortable when we were under way....the weather was perfect so we were lucky!! Tonight we went to my sister in laws and had a delicious dinner. I just made a thank you card for her that I'll post tomorrow. Have a great week. Can't wait for Wednesday to see what Hero Arts has going on.

A NEW Look For Hero Arts July 15th !!

I wanted to make another card for the challenge at Hero Arts this week. I'm so excited to see all the new changes over at Hero Arts on the 15th that I decided to incorporate my excitement in my card. Can you tell I love Hero Arts? They are my favorite rubber stamp company by far for many reasons. Here is their link...check them out if you haven't already.

With that said here are the details on the card..... For the background I used CL 5215 Cloud stamp in HA soft pool ink on white paper. The grass I stamped HA S5105 woodgrain background stamp in white ink on green BO Bunny paper. For the suitcases I printed the message on Amuse checkered paper (slid it into my printer) and then cut rectangles & rounded the corners. Stamped HA S5213 dots and flowers background stamp in Ranger faded jean ink , inked the edges in brown and cut tags for the suitcase handles and feet. The frog and bird are yes...you guessed it Hero Arts from the friendship set Cl332 and the large bird HA CL337. I used glossy accents on the bird,frog and the butterflies. That's about it. I wanted to make a special card for a young lady who I adore. I have been saving this butterfly ( I colored it while away on vacation ) so it was just waiting to fly into a card for a special person ....so that made it easy to assemble.The butterfly is a Hero Arts stamp and I colored with my Copics then I used a Spica pen to add the glittery dots and lines. I put a thick layer of Glossy Accents on the butterfly this morning to enhance it. It looks pretty cool in person. Thanks for looking!

The book is from 7 gypsies & pp is Basic Grey. We will be traveling up the coast so I have waves and sand in the background. I used HA dots & flowers and dot flourish boarder. The arms and legs are stamps from Claudine's stamp set. I made clothes from BG papers. The bird & butterfly are from HA. For the suitcases I printed the destinations on checked paper from Amuse and cut rectangles and rounded the corners, stamped, distressed. For the handles I used the Cuttlebug tag. For the inside I jused Antique lined Ranger ink & dried marigold. Some of the stamping inside is from HA travel set (wood stamps 2008 but, there isn't a number)

This is the first page in the travel journal. I made 8 suitcases for each page for each destination that we will be traveling to. They were really fun to make and I have a card in the works.

The globe is a 2008 HA travel set...wood block but, I can't find a number. After making all 8 suitcases I found the travel set in my drawer with a suitcase...LOL

This is a close up of the suitcases. For the background I used Hero Arts Dots & Flowers background stamp with Ranger's dried marigold ink. Then I distressed the edges in Ranger's antique linen ink. For the handles I used my Cuttlebug with the tags from Spellbinders. I added a glossy coat of Claudine Hellmuth's clear paint to give the suitcases a canvas look.

Well this is my first post so let's see how it goes...testing one..two....three...
