Wish big

Hello Friends, As this posts I will be in sunny L.A. at CHA! Attending CHA was always a dream of mine and to be here is such an honor and something that I don't take for granted. CHA also brings back memories of being at trade shows. I used to go to the furniture markets to buy accessories and things to fill your home with warmth & love. I was the buyer and manager for a  retail store called "The Class Act". That was years ago but, I will always be sales girl at heart.  Ok....that's enough about me :)


This Valentine stamp from Penny Black doubles as a Birthday stamp. My daughter loves to buy her brother boxers for every occasion and since his Birthday is around the corner  this card should be perfect for him.



The background was created with distress inks and you can see the layering of colors below. Most of you know that I have a post with layering colors but, just in case you don't here here is that link again. The texture on the boxers was created by wetting a towel with some nap to it with Copic's blending solution and holding the towel on the boxer for a quick second. (First color the boxers with Copic markers and cut a small corner from a towel.)



I wrapped the string around his little leg that's attached to the balloon but, it's hard to see in this photo. Thanks for visiting  me and have a great week. Hugs, Kathy
Oh I almost forgot to say thanks to Jennifer McGuire for the inspiration!!  I watched her braid a dog collar for a card this fall and filed that awesome idea away for today. Thanks Jennifer :)

day TWO

Hello, Me again :)
I totally forgot to post my "day two" of the four cards that I created with ONE stamp. Here is day ONE with the first two cards that I posted last week.


Lots of fun inking here. I stamped one of the branches in red and cut it out leaving a white boarder. Sentiment is from SRM stickers.



The distress inks are listed below.


For this card I off stamped the right and left side. On the center branch I added little lines inside each leaf , outlined the branch and added Glossy Accents to highlight it. In the supply list you can see the marker that makes making fine lines a snap.




A light Copic marker (B00)  adds a nice highlight around it too.  Have an awesome weekend.

Quick Cards

Hello Friends, This will be a quick post today. I have to get some work done before CHA and my sweet daughter is sick with the flu!! So I know that all you moms out there know what that's like.

I just had to take a break to share this card. Recently I taught a class to a group of wonderful, talented and delightful women from my favorite stamp store!. The class was called "instant cards" and each person went away with six of them. This card is one of my "instant" cards. All I had to do was add it to a card base and jazz it, bling it, or doily it up. 

Here is the post that shows all six cards that were created with one sheet of SRM stickers and one Penny Black flower stamp. It's so fun to design your own paper.

I used  watercolor paper to punch out a heart and colored it with Barn Door by laying it right on top of the stamp pad.(I like some area's to not be completely covered) Worn Lipstick is what was used around the edges of the card. Each flower was outlined with a Copic marker and this really makes the flower pop. You must try this. I also traced the flowers again with a glittery marker for some subtle sparkle. When finished add your sentiment from SRM stickers. Don't you LOVE this "doily" it's actually called a "Napperon" and they are square and so delicious plus a great value. I was delighted to find them at my local five & dime type store.

One more thing.... the NEW Penny Black stamps they are AMAZING!

Spellbinder Paper Flowers

Hello Friends, I hope you had a wonderful weekend with lots of time to get creative. Today I have a card to share with a big and fluffy flower that was created with the "blossom" Spellbinder die.

I used all of my favorite things to design this card. Can you guess? A Penny Black stamp, Spellbinders and an SRM Sticker. I cut three Spellbinder blossom flowers in three different sizes out of white paper. Then I stamped the flowers with Penny Black's letter background and proceeded to distress them all.

Take your favorite scissors and begin to cut each petal on each flower many times, slightly bend your new thin petals up. Layer the flower and glue. So simple but, the flower really packs a punch on any card.

See the Spellbinder die in the inside? it's the same one on the outside of the card but, I cut the shape in half and turned it around to make a nice backdrop for the flower. I love the large sticker sentiment from SRM stickers.
