Catching up .....

Hello Friends, I hope you had a wonderful Easter or Passover and some good weather too.

I wish I could say that I have been busy in the kitchen cooking up some yummy goodies.


I finally had some time to color during our spring break and tonight I was determined to sit and finish a card for my sanity! It has been a log two weeks & I am so behind on emails. Cleaning, more cleaning and  more organizing is what has been occupying all of my time. Please accept my apologies if I oew you an email I promise to catch up in the next two days. 



This digipaper from Jen Martakis was the perfect "wallpaper" for my little kitchen scene. I added some chocolate frosting to the inside of the bowl & drew some eyelashes on her eyes. Mimi's hair is is that new look where half of your hair on the bottom is blonder. I will list the supplies below.

Hello Friends,  Just a quick share today with a stamp that I love ..... especially the grass !



I don't think I could cut this grass without these scissors.



Here are two cards I created with the grass and here too. The white paper is 140 LB from my local art store. The beautiful green papers you can see here. The sentiment strip is from this Spellbinder die.

This card was created with Tombow markers, SRM sticker and distress ink. The image is called "Butterfly Suite" & the papers are Penny Black mix and match. I added some flower soft to the flowers centers.

Tie The Knot

Hello Friends, How are you today? I'm pretty excited Friday is just around the bend. Do you have any friends or family that are ready to Tie the Knot or just getting hitched?? This is the last day of my blooming flowers week on the Penny Black Blog and I want to leave you with two response cards that I have to send back to the bride & groom.



I have been adding something to response cards as long as I can remember. This one is so beautiful it took me awhile to decide what to color/stamp on it. The paper is like butter and the weight is so substantial!This had to be special because I have been lucky enough to watch this bride to be grow from a young teen into a beautiful woman. We are blessed to consider them part of our family.


I dotted the centers of the flowers with a glue pen and sprinkled it with "Earth" Ultra Fine Flower Soft. ( See the supply list at the bottom) Colored with Copics


My neighbor asked me to jazz this one up. It was a clean slate and the paper had an entirely different feel to it. This one required a background stamp in addition to the flower.


This application of flower soft is a bit different. Apply the Glossy Accents then pour on some Ultra Fine flower soft.

It's still blooming on day three

Hello...me again :) I have to say thanks for all of your support this week. Before we get started I thought I would let you all know that I am stepping down from Simon Says Stamp Challenge's  DT. Mother's Day in the U.S. is around the corner so I though some happy art would be a good gift for my mother. This box frame I purchased a while ago on sale waiting for the perfect stamped image.


The background was created the same way as I did on my "batik" cards yesterday. The flowers were colored with the same technique as I did on Monday.



What's great about this flower image from Penny Black called "Sparkle" is that the shading is already done for you.

The Ultra Fine Flower soft was applied a little differently than I did on the flowers on Monday.
If you look closely the centers look like a honey comb and I didn't want to cover that up . I used a glue pen and dotted only certain areas then sprinkled the flower soft on.

I thought this photo might be helpful.

After stamping I added more shading with some Copic markers.

I use this Sharpie marker daily and you can find it anywhere locally. These flowers are super easy to outline & it really makes the flowers pop.

I love Ranger's Distress Inks

Hello Friends, How are you? Thanks for stopping by day 2 of my blog week at Penny Black. This set of note cards is my interpretation of some batik fabric. The distress inks pared with Penny Black's Mix & Match papers worked together so beautifully.




The packaging from the transparent & clings sets always comes in handy for gift packaging. I let you in on a little secret. I forgot the envelopes. Oh well.... I think the vintage pin will make up for that. I love to use these metal vintage pins on my bulletin board.

I just want to give you a close up on each card and a tutorial to follow.

The enamel accents is that one extra detail that makes the card ...gives it that extra dimensional pop.

I have been layering my butterflies for more lift as you see in all of these cards.
In this post I used vellum as my second layer that I stamped on for a more delicate look. 

The corners I used Chipped Sapphire. This combo is my favorite. Which one is yours??

This powder tool gives me a clean image when I use it before I emboss. Just brush it over your paper. For today I'm using watercolor paper.

I just smeared my ink pads right onto the paper. I started with the lighter colors in the middle.

Add some worn lipstick bringing the color from the edges toward the center. Then add the darker color in the corners with Barn Door.

I like to stamp the pad directly onto the craft mat. Then I smear the ink with a wet wipe to get these lines of droplets in the ink.

Lay the paper down onto the droplets. Pick it up and see if you are happy. Perhaps repeat or add some different colors.

When I was finished I added more ink to the corners. Rust to the orange, Purple to the blue, green and red.

 This is when you can add the Enamel Accents. ( I use both colors all the time)  Notice that the image isn't totally filled in because I stamped it on a heavy textured water color paper. I felt it was a perfect for the batik look.

I stamped the ink pads on some card stock to "color" them then stamped the paisley background on top. Punch out your butterflies on some white paper and the inked paper.
