Simon Says Stamp

Hello Friends, How is everyone today? I have some exciting news that I want to share with you! I have been invited to be part of the very talented DT team at Simon Says Stamp... I am so excited and so honored!  As you might already know that they have some pretty neat weekly challenges and it's a great way for me to think out of the box. Now I will have a new way to use my yummy Penny Black stamps in unique ways and share them with you. Today's challenge at Simon Says Stamp is the perfect example of what I am taking about. Read here for all of the details. I forgot to mention... Simon Says Stamp chooses a random winner for a $50.00 gift certificate each week!

For this necklace I used Tim Holtz's Sizzix die, distress ink, grunge board and two Penny Black stamps. All of the supplies are linked below along with instructions if you are interested.  If want some other ideas of projects other than cards I have some examples for you. Wine tags here, sentiments in a tube here, gift card holder here, and a FELT gift card along with more wine tags here.
Friday I will announce the winner of my blog candy here.

With all that said here are the instructions:
Cut two sets of Tim's die with water color paper (for layering) then, cut another set from grunge board.
Layout how you want to form the necklace.
I colored the wings with Copics markers so I could get some heavy shading to show up on the necklace once the wings are attached. I used BG45, BG49 and BG18.
The heart pieces were colored with Barn Door distress ink. Stamp the heart with the letter background stamp in Aged Mahogany. All of the blue pieces were stamped with  PB's new paisley stamp.
Once everything is dry rim your edges with markers. Add a light coating of rock candy distress stickles to the hearts with your finger or a small brush.
I switched up the way I wanted to layer the heart. I pierced a hole in the wings to insert a jump ring but, it didn't fit so I wedged it between the grunge board and the paper. Add some glossy accents to secure the jump ring in place.

Then you can add some pearls or bling to your necklace. I found an old necklace that I don't wear any more for the chain. Do you like the pearls or should I have left the heart more simple. Hummm....

On the wing you can really see the details in the paisley stamp from PB. Soon it will be available in your LLS. A big thanks to the Simon Says DT for your warm welcome and a big thanks to you for visiting my blog. Happy creating! Thanks again! Hugs, Kathy

A new week a new challenge

Hello Friends, I made this card for this weeks challenge for the Penny Black blog here and I hope that you just might have time to play along :)

Basket of Love
This adorable image is called "Basket of Love" and she's easy to color.  The hearts in the background are from a different stamp listed below. I colored the hearts with different Tombo markers, stamped on white paper, re-inked again and again. When dry you can add glitter with a glue pen.

Basket of Love

I colored her face with Copic markers and everything else I used Tombo markers. A girl can't have enough markers...ha! Notice the pretty paper peeping from behind the white?? Below are just some of the colors that will soon be available. The yummy flower is one of the new stamps too. So fun to finally share with you all.

Penny Black's NEW Background Stamps

Hello Friends, Are you still recovering from watching the Super Bowl? I didn't really see any stand out commercials but, I didn't get to watch it all. We had a small crowd for soup, chili and toasted cornbread. What did you all of you state side do tonight?

If you haven't see the NEW 2011 Spring Penny Black Catalog you can see it on line now. Here is the link. If you have then you must be aware of some big news....Penny Black now has dyed paper with a slight texture look to it. It looks sort of like suede does with an ever so subtle texture look. I Love the colors and I can't wait to get my hands on some more.

This paisley background is my hands down favorite and I find myself reaching for it constantly. IF you take a closer look at the cover of the new catalog you will find each of these new background stamps. I would love to know if you spotted them :)

As for this flower I used the new PB paper but, if you are into distressing here is another one of these flowers that I cut more fringe and inked it up instead.

These turquoise paper are my favorites and I could use them everyday just like I could eat pizza everyday! (I don't though :( ) This card is super simple for me but, I wanted to showcase the background stamp. Again you will see the same stamp on the cover of the catalog. I threw on a antique pin cause I didn't know what else to do. I need my colored images ya' know.
Have a great night and thanks so much for stopping by to see what's up. Hugs, Kathy

P.S. Only ONE day left to put your name on the list for my blog candy if you haven't yet. Here is the link and best of luck. I have some more stamps to give away real soon.

Did you know ?

Hello Friends and happy Friday to you, I hope you have some fun plans for the weekend?

I'm not sure if you know this..... If you are a "Club Member" of Penny Black you are privy to peeks of new stamps before anyone else! You will also get emails of project cards, videos and other inspiration FIRST. How great is that :) If you would like you can click here to join The Penny Black Club. I bring this up because today.... if you are a member...... you received from the club an email with a card I created and I can't share it with you for a few weeks and that is going to be hard.
Will you be my...
You might recognize this little cutie because I recently used him on a card here. Why again so soon you ask? I received an email from a wonderful lady who has taken my classes at my LLS. She asked me if I would consider making a card using him on a Valentine themed card. I was thrilled to get this request and was more than happy to ink him up again.

Will you be my...
The sentiments are from SRM stickers & you can purchase them here.

Will you be my...

You might be asking what did I color this adorable hedgehog with? I used Copic markers (E33, E50, E30 & RV10) then, I used a few prismacolor pencils to add so extra shading. Did you notice the widows peak I shaded on his face? If any of you have a stamp that you need a little jump start with just send me an email to see if I have it. I would love to help. For all of you that live in the states enjoy Super Bowl Sunday! Hugs, Kathy

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hello Friends, I am editing this to add some news. I  forgot to tell you that over at the Penny Black blog you will find weekly challenges here. I hope you have a chance to play along and prizes are involved too.

Have you ever had chocolate chip cookies with oatmeal? So delish. You can see the recipe here on my new cooking blog that's under construction. I am waiting for Kristina from
to add her creative touch to it. In the meantime you can find my recipe for the cookies.

Last week when my daughter was sick I purchased these crackers for her and loved the boxes. I thought these were perfect to fill with cookies to send for my son at college.

Once the cookies were safely tucked inside I could decorate the boxes for my son's Birthday package. Hopefully he will wonder why I am sending him "crackers" and will be in for a surprise...lol

Wish Big

I used Prisma colored pencils because all of my copic and tombo markers are still packed. Whenever I travel I am sure to have a bag filled with something to color with.

Wish Big
I fringed the ends of the ribbon on this one. All of the stamps are from Penny Black and the paper is Basic Grey.
Wish Big

I hope to show you some of the new stamps soon! Hugs, Kathy
