christmas fairy altered -- new blog update

Hello Friends, How are you today?  I hope you have a spring in your step with the warmer temps or cooler ones depending on where you live. Today I have a card to share and an a update on The Daily Marker blog makeover. First lets start with the card.
This adorable girl from Penny Black is a holiday stamp that can easily be altered into a sweet fairy card or a pretty girl by cutting off the wings and wand after stamping.
If you are new to Copic markers I suggest using a blending set because the colors coordinate so beautifully the work is done for you.... they all work together in harmony!  If you have a few of the colors in a blending set make note of other colors from the sets to add to your collection.
The background was super fun & super easy to create using one of the stencils from Simon Says. I like to use a dauber to add the ink to the cardstock. After using the stencil with sea glass ink just rotate your paper and repeat with a different ink like mint.

I think you will enjoy rotating your stencils to create a new & interesting patterns. I added some faux stitching lines to this background to mimic a plaid pattern. The cardstock that matches mint and sea glass finish your card off easily.

stretch your stamp and giveaway

Hello ... hello friends, Anything new with you?
It's that time of month I love because I have a GIVEAWAY.... one of Simon Says Stamp wonderful card kits. Meet January 2014 Card Kit. What's not to love when the kit is packed full of beautiful papers, fun embellishments and a stamp set that never disappoints.
Click here if you want to join monthly for only $19.95
The second I laid eyes on this three eyed monster I knew that I had to color him but, he/she would be great to paper piece. Some freckles were added with a white gel pen. The boarders & background were stamped using the new Simon inks!!
When you fall in love with a stamp you need more of it right? So... below I show you how I made her (note the beauty mark) taller. I do have to say the background I am not so happy with but, sometimes you just have to let go :)
One way to do this is ink up your stamp then wipe off & dry the portion you don't want to stamp. Or you could cover the part you don't want to stamp with sticky paper. After stamping the feet and the body draw a line to connect the feet to the body with a Copic friendly marker like this or a fine tip Sharpie will work too . If you use a ruler you might find that the leg is unnatural looking...to straight.
Have a great weekend and a happy day. Thank you for popping in. Hugs, Kathy

P.S. Did you see my post were I gave a bird legs? So fun to make these little changes.
GIVEAWAY DETAILS: Just leave me a comment and I will pick a random winner Jan 1st. If you subscribe to the card kit you will be refunded for the full amount of the card kit.

altering a bird

Hello Friends, How are you today? Are you having a thaw in your neck of the woods? This Saturday the temps might reach 72! I call that Global Warming!

Anyway...I have two fun mini cards to share today.
What's special about this Lawn Fawn set is that you can use it all year plus I'm a sucker for anything with a bird.
These birds make me happy and I wanted them to really make a big appearance on my card so I gave them some legs.... two sizes of legs by cutting some scrap paper & glueing the legs to the back of the bird. I stamped the leaf boarder in green & highlighted the leaves with a blue marker. The little berries were created with this versatile stamp set called, "Lots of Dots"
The "Thanks" die is fun to cut from some fun patterned paper like the Lawn Fawn 6x6 paper pack. Love how their paper has some solid papers to mix with the beautiful mini prints.

Stay tuned because my next post I will be giving away Simon Says Stamp Jan 2014 Card Kit. Thanks for your visit today and as the holiday is almost is here I hope you take a deep breath and enjoy the season instead of feeling any stress. Hugs, Kathy
