watt's up - giveaway- winners announced

Hello Friends, How are you today? Yearning for spring perhaps or fall if you are across the pond? I must admit that Simon Says Stamp April Card Kit  has given me some ....well... bright ideas! Today I have two cards to share with you and.....

 I HAVE Simon Says Stamps April 2014 Card Kit TO GIVEAWAY.

When the kit arrives I am never disappointed with it's contents. I always enjoy the kits embellishments that I never manage to purchase like these gold glittery dots (I used them on a different card that what you see in this post) . Watts not to love about this stamp set called, "Watts Up".

If you have been in the market for lighting recently you may have noticed all of the cool decorative bulbs and clusters of bulbs. The filament in each bulb is usually yellow or white so that's the look I was going for with this card.

After coloring I added vellum to each bulb and also on top of the beautiful but, busy flowers to tone it down. Wink of Sella was added to the hearts and the metal part of the bulb. I usually like to select parts of an image rather than adding glitter to the entire image... I think it adds more interest.

1. Stamp bulb with SSS Sunshine ink three times. 2. Add some color with BG11. 3. Add BG000 on top. 4. blend the colors with "0" 5. Add W5 to the edges of the metal part of the bulb. 6. Add W1 & blend the two colors. 7. Color some twine with W5 & let dry. 8. Stamp Sunshine on vellum and heat set carefully. 9. Add B02 & B000 to the banner and stamp sentiment. 10. use a glue pen to adhere the vellum to the light bulb. Add Wink of Stella to the bulb.

Hello Friends, How are you doing? Braving the cold or hot temps? Today I am popping with a super quick post with a card and two butteries for my pin board. 

The sweet typewriter is one of the stamps from Simon Says Stamps newest release. The flowers are from the February Card Kit.

I always enjoy stamping a background especially when the ink matches the paper. Love this "Sea Glass ink!" Note: I carried the stamped background pattern onto the white card stock.

This Micro pen made it possible to draw letters on the typewriter keys. Wink of Stella pen was used on the heart and then I applied Glossy Accents to the keys and heart.

For each image I colored on my card ... I stamped an extra image to color on a blank butterfly for my pin board. The typewrite is from this stamp set.

I masked off the flowers when I created this butterfly and colored all the images for today with Copic markers. You can find the flower stamp set here. Let me know if you have any questions and a big thanks for your visit today. Hugs, Kathy

when in doubt take the vellum out & we have a winner

Hello Friends, How are you? Today I am sharing a fun vellum tip and the winner of the Penny Black Giveaway. My May 2013 Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp was still out on my craft table therefore, it was easy to design a quick card with the beautiful papers & vellum from the card kit. Penny Black has really been rocking their stamps and it's not an exaggeration when I say that I need them all. This sweet yet whimsical stamp called "Mona Lisa" is so unique and fun! 

I used a "Project Life" type die cut called, "Life Bubble Vertical" to use on my card instead of a scrap album. I love the outline die cut that frames the Life Bubble. (check out the vertical bubble here & here) the sentiment words are from this die cut. The background paper was very busy so I put a 40lb piece of vellum on top of the busy paper and instantly it gave my card a soft elegant look. I decided so sew the vellum down and this is the fun part..... I tucked the "Oh Happy" down behind the vellum so that only the one word would stand out. (if I was a planner then I wouldn't be tucking the words behind the vellum...I would just be glueing them under the vellum..lol) Vellum really adds so much to a card especially if it's the right weight. I colored Mona Lisa with Copics and added a big blob of Enamel Accents on her necklace.

I must give you an update on Brian Mitchell. Many of you were so kind to view his video and leave great comments and personal experiences relating to his video on Brian's U-Tube channel! Thank YOU!! Well..... Brian won 1st place at the Maryland state competition & is moving on to nationals. Thank you all for your support it meant so much to Brian!(Brian is that handsome guy on the right)
